NEW YORK - January 10, 2013 - Pop icon turned knock-out home renovator, Rob Van Winkle, a.k.a. Vanilla Ice, and his crew of contractors are rocking home renovations in the third season of DIY Network's popular primetime series "The Vanilla Ice Project," premiering Sunday, Jan. 27 at 10 p.m. ET. Fans also can see more of the Vanilla Ice brand of mind blowing renovations in his new one-hour special, "Ice My House," premiering on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11 p.m. ET.
"I'm pumped to bring the gang back together for more renovations that viewers will have to see to believe!" said Van Winkle, "I love showcasing the latest and greatest state-of-the-art, in-home technology. Having fans who keep coming back to watch me do a passion I love, is an amazing feeling."
As the next 13 episode arc of "The Vanilla Ice Project" kicks-off, Van Winkle and his reliable crew of contractors execute the extraordinary transformation of a 6,000 sq. ft. home in Palm Beach, Fla. that is in desperate need of a facelift. The team hunts down the hottest home improvement trends and technologies to give the property the jaw-dropping overhaul it needs to be a contender in today's improving housing market. The first big project is a pool that's in terrible shape after cracking and rotting for years. The pool renovation tests the team's skills and patience, and in the end, it's all worth it because nothing sells a house in Florida like a beautiful pool.
Fans who just can't wait one more week to see Van Winkle and his crew back in action can catch "Ice My House," which documents the story of nationwide contest winners, Michelle and Nesty Nunez of Lake Worth, Fla., who won a rock star, $30,000 outdoor renovation courtesy of DIY Network. The project is put on ice when a full-blown hurricane roars into town, but Rob and his crew buckle down and deliver a spectacular renovation despite the storm. The Nunez family's backyard and patio is "iced" out with a show-stopping water feature, retractable pergola, an iguana house and enough tropical plants to make it feel like a real jungle paradise.
After his 90s chart topping hit "Ice Ice Baby," Van Winkle began focusing his energy on another passion - buying land and flipping houses. By renovating old homes and foreclosures over the years, he taught himself the basics through hands-on experience and research. With each new season, Van Winkle brings to the table nearly two decades worth of knowledge and talent. Touted by The New York Times as "a tribute to ingenuity, to turning lemons into lemonade," the first season of DIY Network's "The Vanilla Ice Project" premiered to critical-acclaim in October 2010 and was followed by a second season, which premiered in January 2012.
