TBS Greenlights New Unscripted Series From Howie Mandel and Mark Burnett
TBS has greenlit a pair of new unscripted series: Deal With It (working title) which comes to TBS from executive producer Howie Mandel, and Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host (working title), executive-produced by Mark Burnett. Both series are slated to premiere in late 2013.
Deal With It is a hidden-camera ambush show based on a successful format created by Keshet Broadcasting and United Studios. In the series, unsuspecting members of the public are secretly dared to pull a prank on their unwitting companions with absolutely no time to prepare. If they agree to participate, they must obey all instructions given through an earpiece from a secret control room nearby. With the opportunity to prank their way to cash and prizes, these everyday people will be shown no mercy as they are tasked with pulling off some of the most ridiculous behavior ever caught on hidden camera.
TBS has ordered six episodes of Deal With It, which is produced for TBS by Howie Mandel's Alevy Productions, Roy Bank's Banca Studio and Keshet Broadcasting (Homeland), in association with Lionsgate Television. Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal, Mobbed), Mike Marks (Mobbed) and Roy Bank (It's Worth What?, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?) serve as executive producers.
Trust Me, I'm A Game Show Host is a comedic game show in which two hosts each present the single contestant with a different answer to the same question. One host gives the correct answer, while the other lies and gives an incorrect answer. The contestant must then choose the right answer to move on in the game. This is the first game show where two hosts duel to deceive contestants. The players who prove themselves to be super-human lie detectors will go home with a pocketful of cash.
TBS has ordered 10 episodes of Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host. The series is produced by Mark Burnett's joint venture with Hearst Corporation, One Three Media, and the London-based Monkey. Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor, The Apprentice, Shark Tank) and Monkey founders Will MacDonald and David Granger (Made in Chelsea, Make My Day) serve as executive producers.
