ESPN's Coverage of the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Begins Saturday with First-Round Action
ESPN, ESPN2 & ESPNU combine to air all 15 tournament games; Women's Championship Weekend on ESPN3 & ESPNU
The 16-team bracket for the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Presented by Northwestern Mutual was unveiled exclusively Sunday on ESPNU with Syracuse earning the No. 1 seed in the field. Tournament play begins with first-round action Saturday, May 11, featuring Lehigh at No. 5 seed North Carolina at noon ET on ESPN2. Sunday's games open with Cornell at No. 6 Maryland at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
The defending national champion Loyola-Maryland travels to No. 7 seed Duke on Sunday, May 12, at 5:15 p.m. on ESPNU. All games throughout the championship on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU can also be seen on WatchESPN.
ESPN networks will provide exclusive coverage of all 15 games of the NCAA Championship for the seventh straight year. Coverage will be across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3 and WatchESPN beginning Saturday, May 11, and concludes with the national title game on Monday, May 27. The women's championship weekend - beginning Friday, May 24, with the national semifinals - will be shown on ESPN3, followed by the title game on Sunday, May 26, on ESPNU and WatchESPN.
ESPN's top lacrosse commentating team will again be in position throughout the NCAA Championship, led by veteran play-by-play voice Eamon McAnaney, along with analyst Quint Kessenich and sideline reporter/analyst Paul Carcaterra. During their college careers, Kessenich (Johns Hopkins) and Carcaterra (Syracuse) both played in four NCAA Championships and each won a national title with their respective teams.
Also joining ESPN's early-round coverage are analysts Ryan Boyle (three-time Princeton All-American), Mark Dixon (John Hopkins midfielder), Ryan Flanagan (North Carolina defenseman), Stephen McElduff (North Carolina defenseman and team co- captain) and Matt Ward (Tewaaraton trophy winner and Virginia attackman). Calling game action will be Joe Beninati, Mike Corey and Booker Corrigan.
Host Anish Shroff will be at ESPNU's Charlotte, N.C., studios with analyst Kessenich for all first-round action. Joining the duo for Saturday's games will be 21st-year Virginia head coach Dom Starsia, while 13th-year John Hopkins head coach Dave Pietramala will be in studio on Sunday.
