GSN ANNOUNCES BROOKE BURNS AS HOST OF NEW ORIGINAL GAME SHOW "THE CHASE"

Joined by Mark "The Beast" Labbett, Notorious Chaser from the UK version of the New Original Series Produced by ITV Studios America

May 29, 2013 (Santa Monica, CA) - And THE CHASE is on! GSN announced today that it has signed actress and television host Brooke Burns as host of its new original series THE CHASE. Inspired by the hit UK show of the same name, THE CHASE is a one-hour quiz show in which three contestants battle in a fast-paced quiz competition against an all-knowing opponent, The Beast. THE CHASE will premiere on GSN in 2013.

"I am looking forward to being a part of this highly anticipated series," said Burns. "The quick pace as the fiercely intelligent contestants battle it out with one of the smartest men in the world will truly make this show fast and furious."

Joining Burns on the show as the formidable Beast is Mark Labbett. One of the original "Chasers" in the UK version, he's been conquering opponents for six seasons and has set his sights on taking on the United States' best and brightest. Labbett has degrees from Oxford, Exeter and Glamorgan universities and is also a qualified mathematics teacher. Labbett's name - from the original French "La Bte" - literally translates as "The Beast." At 6'6" tall, he is a quiz giant in every way: arrogant and intimidating, with a menacing laugh when he senses a contestant is on the ropes. As likely to win the psychological battle as the intellectual one, The Beast will use every dirty trick in the book to put his opponents off their guard.

Burns began her career starring in the hit series "Baywatch" and has had starring roles in Fox's "North Shore" and the WB's "Pepper Dennis." Burns also had a recurring role on the new "Melrose Place" and was a series regular on "Miss Guided." She made her game show hosting debut in 2002 as the host of NBC's "Dog Eat Dog," now currently seen on GSN, and recently hosted a dating game show pilot for GSN called "Where Have You Been All My Life?" In 2003, she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for best TV host for "Dog Eat Dog." Burns' additional television credits include appearances on "Ally McBeal," "Just Shoot Me," "Drop Dead Diva" and "CSI: Miami." She also had a role in the film "Shallow Hal" and the Hallmark Original Christmas movie "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Burns was last seen in the starring role of the Lifetime movie "A Sister's Revenge."

ABOUT THE CHASE

You can run, but you cannot hide, The Beast is always coming after you. In THE CHASE, a team of three contestants attempts to amass as much money as possible by answering quick-fire questions in a 60-second round. The money earned will go towards a team bank. Why the urgency? Because The Beast is always lurking, ready to pounce. The Beast - quite simply -- is a quiz genius. The job of this intimidating presence is to catch each contestant by answering more questions than his opponents to ensure they are not able to bank their money. It's a role he executes with ruthless efficiency. In the final round, the team collectively plays against The Beast in an epic David vs. Goliath battle for the entire amount that they have banked.

THE CHASE is produced by ITV Studios America with Bob Boden (Don't Forget the Lyrics, Family Game Night, Greed) serving as Executive Producer.
