TATIANA MASLANY OF BBC AMERICA'S ORIGINAL SERIES "ORPHAN BLACK" WINS CRITICS' CHOICE TELEVISION AWARD
Maslany named Best Actress in a Drama Series
New York - June 11, 2013 - Tatiana Maslany - break out star of BBC AMERICA'S Orphan Black - took home one of the biggest Critics' Choice Television Awards last night after being named Best Actress in a Drama Series by the Broadcast Television Journalist Association.
"Tatiana Maslany is truly television's brightest new star," commented Perry Simon, General Manager, BBC AMERICA. "Her tour de force performance on Orphan Black is richly deserving of this honor and we are thrilled that the TV critics have recognized her exceptional talent."
This was Maslany's first Critics' Choice Award nomination and first win for her acclaimed Orphan Black performance in which she plays seven roles. The Best Actress category included Claire Danes, Vera Farmiga, Juliana Margulies, Elizabeth Moss and Keri Russell. Maslany also served as a presenter at the Awards Ceremony held last night in Los Angeles.
The Critics' Choice win comes on the heels of Tatiana's Television Critics Association Award Nomination for Individual Achievement in Drama, announced yesterday. TCA also nominated Orphan Black in the New Program category.
