JOHN MULANEY SHOW, THE (NBC/Universal; W: John Mulaney; D: Andy Ackerman) - FOX has reportedly asked for a new script for the multi-camera comedy pilot - based on the life of the stand-up comedian and his efforts to be a good person, much to the annoyance of everyone around him - with an eye towards a six-episode series order. The described "quick pass" may include some casting adjustments. Elliott Gould, Griffin Newman, Martin Short, Nasim Pedrad and Seaton Smith all starred in the original NBC pilot, which didn't move forward to series at the network. Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, Dave Becky and David Miner as well as director Andy Ackerman also served as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
MILLERS, THE (CBS/CTS; W: Greg Garcia; D: James Burrows) - Jayma Mays ("Glee") has joined the cast of the upcoming comedy, about a recently divorced local roving news reporter (Will Arnett) looking forward to living the singles' life until his parents' (Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges) marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans. She'll succeed Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Debbie, the sister of Arnett's character. The role of her husband - originally played by Michael Rapaport - is also being recast. Eve Moon and J.B. Smoove also star. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CRAIG ROBINSON PROJECT (NBC/Universal; W: Owen Ellickson; D: Steve Pink) - The network has extended the options on the entire cast of the single-camera comedy pilot - about an impulsive, good-hearted musician who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher in a big-city middle school - as well as ordered three additional scripts. Amanda Lund, Amandla Stenberg, Jean Smart and Larenz Tate also star in single-camera project, while Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green - who helped rewrite the pilot script - also now serve as executive producers alongside Greg Daniels, Tracy Katsky, Howard Klein and Mark Schulman. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LOU WALLACH PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Former Comedy Central executive Lou Wallach is developing a new sketch comedy series for the network. A multicity search is reportedly about to begin for "both new and veteran writer-performers on the stand-up, improv and sketch comedy circuits with the hopes of creating one flagship series." Wallach recently inked an overall deal with Universal Television's Alternative Studio. (THR.com)
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY (NBC/Sony; W: Mike Sikowitz; D: Michael Engler) - Fabrizio Guido (World War Z) has joined the cast of the freshman comedy, about two teens (Joey Haro, Ella Rae Peck) whose disparate families are bonded together after they fall in love and get pregnant. He'll play Demetrio, the former's younger brother, a role played by Aramis Knight in the original pilot. Justina Machado, Ricardo Chavira, Mary McCormack and Mike O'Malley also star as the leads' respective parents. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Jenna Elfman has closed her deal to join the cast of NBC's "Growing Up Fisher," where she'll replace Parker Posey as mom Joyce (TVLine.com); Patrick Heusinger will recur on "Revolution" as "a handsome and outgoing thirtysomething" (Deadline.com); Ben Rappaport is bound for "The Good Wife" as a four-year associate at Lockhart-Gardner (Deadline.com); recent additions Melissa Benoist, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell have all been upped to series regulars on "Glee" (Deadline.com); Mare Winningham will guest on "Under the Dome" as "a deceptively warm caretaker who welcomes Big Jim into the Chester's Mill home she's looking after" (TVLine.com); Joey Lauren Adams is set for two episodes of "Switched at Birth" as Nikki's mother (TVLine.com); and Patch Darragh will drop by "Royal Pains" as "a kind man with a big heart who is fluent in the language of flowers but tongue-tied around women" (TVGuide.com).
