INDEPENDENT FILM "ESCAPE FROM POLYGAMY," STARRING MARY MCCORMACK, WILLIAM MAPOTHER, HALEY LU RICHARDSON AND JACK FALAHEE, TO PREMIERE ON LIFETIME ON AUGUST 24

28 Year-Old Rachel Lee Goldenberg Directs Modern Day Romeo and Juliet Story Set on Polygamous Compound

Los Angeles, CA (August 7, 2013) - The independent film Escape from Polygamy, starring Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight, The West Wing), William Mapother (In the Bedroom, Justified), Haley Lu Richardson (Shake It Up!, The Well) and Jack Falahee (The Carrie Diaries, Jane Got a Gun), and from 28 year-old up-and-coming director Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Funny or Die, Love at the Christmas Table), will make its world premiere on Saturday, August 24, at 8:00pm ET/PT on Lifetime.

In Escape from Polygamy, recently-widowed Leann (McCormack) and her 17-year-old daughter Julina (Richardson) move into an isolated polygamous compound, where the freethinking Julina meets like-minded Ryder (Falahee), son of the religious compound's charismatic Prophet, Ervil (Mapother). Immediately drawn to one another, the two begin to secretly meet and soon fall in love. Threatened by his son's budding attraction to Julina, Ervil claims God has instructed him to take Julina as his new wife so they can build a new community in Mexico. When Ryder and Julina learn of Ervil's intent to destroy their relationship, they begin to plan their escape. However, Ervil intercedes and banishes Ryder from the sect, leaving him in a remote area of the desert so he can no longer endanger his plan to marry Julina. Wandering for miles, Ryder arrives in Las Vegas, where he finds his old friend and excommunicated "lost boy" Micah (Jake Weary, Fred: The Show, As the World Turns) and enlists his help to rescue Julina. Back at the compound, Leann and her sister-wives also begin to realize Ervil's role as Prophet is not as sacred as they originally believed and set out to save Julina and reunite her with her true love, Ryder.

Escape from Polygamy is executive produced by Sharon Bordas (Gone Missing, Lifetime's Sexting in Suburbia) and Fernando Szew (Nicky Deuce, Radio Rebel) of MarVista Entertainment. Nancy Leopardi (Love at the Christmas Table, Zombie Night) and Ross Kohn produce the film, directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Funny or Die, Love at the Christmas Table) and written by Damon Hill (Greek, So noTORIous).
