Production Begins on "Tori & Dean: Cabin Fever"
The famous family ventures to Canada to renovate a lakeside cottage
(Toronto, Canada) Scripps Networks Interactive's HGTV (U.S.), Corus Entertainment's CMT (Canada) and Cineflix announced today the start of production on Tori & Dean: Cabin Fever, a series that follows actors Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott and their family. With their four kids in tow, the couple heads to a picturesque lake in Ontario, Canada to put their DIY expertise to good use while renovating a lakeside cottage into their dream vacation home. The series is slated to air on CMT and HGTV in spring 2014.
Produced by Cineflix, and Executive Produced by Spelling and McDermott, the 8 x 30 series provides viewers with an intimate and humorous inside look at what happens when the couple takes their family to see what life is like in Dean's home country. The couple will spend the summer exploring all that cottage life has to offer.
"We're excited to capture Tori and Dean's dramatic lifestyle change as they embark on this new adventure," said Joe Houlihan, Executive Vice President of Programming, Cineflix. "It's a return to the familiar for Dean, but it's a completely new experience for Tori, which will make for some fun and engaging TV."
Tori and Dean have had a lot of adventures during their marriage, but this will be their biggest challenge yet - adjusting to an outdoorsy and unpredictable Canadian way of life while creating a stylish getaway home for the whole family.
"We're thrilled to welcome Tori and Dean to Canada for this exciting new project," said Vibika Bianchi, Vice President, Original Programming, Corus Women and Family. "Bringing the couple's unique and genuine brand of humour to a rustic northern setting is sure to be a highly entertaining series and strike a chord with Canadians."
Tori and Dean infuse each episode with amusing banter as they and their kids, including Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 1 and Finn, 10 months, experience all the highs and lows of cottage life - including canoeing, mosquitoes, eccentric neighbours and potential bear run-ins. They also share many personal family moments including Finn's first birthday. In the midst of all the adventure and antics the DIY duo also manages to transform the cottage room by room with their own unique touch.
Tori & Dean: Cabin Fever is a Cineflix (T & D) Inc. production, in association with CMT and HGTV in the U.S. Executive Producers are Simon Lloyd, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott.
