CONCEPTION (NBC, New!) - John Glenn and Lars Jacobson have sold a new drama to the Peacock which "tracks a modern-day immaculate conception on a large scale and how said children are destined to change the world." Universal Television is behind the hour, which has a put pilot commitment, with David Janollari of David Janollari Entertainment executive producing alongside Glenn and his fellow Universal-based John Glenn Entertainment. GRINGO (FOX, New!) - "The Shield" alums Walton Goggins and Adam Fierro are developing a new drama at the network about "an American cop who moves south of the border with his Mexican wife and ends up caught in the middle of the cartel wars." Fierro will pen the teleplay from a story he conceived alongside Goggins with both executive producing for Fox Television Studios. Darris Hatch will also serve as a co-executive producer. (THR.com)
LINE OF SIGHT (AMC/AMC Studios/FTS; W: Blake Masters; D: Jonathan Demme) - David Morrissey ("The Walking Dead") has been tapped for the lead role on the drama pilot, about Lewis Bernt, a National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigator who survives a mysterious plane crash, bringing him on a quest to discover the accident's cause. Said casting will undoubtedly fuel speculation that his character, The Governor, will be killed off during the upcoming fourth season of the zombie drama. Lisa Gay Hamilton and Sarah Clarke also star in the hour while Kai Lennox has likewise been added as Tony Vie, one of the crash victims. (Deadline.com)
OUTBREAK (NBC, New!) - "ER" alums John Wells and Jack Orman are developing a small screen take on Wolfgang Petersen's 1995 feature of the same name, "a medical thriller that follows an ensemble of characters as they race to contain a lethal virus before it becomes a global pandemic." Said effort, which has pilot production commitment, comes from the Warner Bros. Television-based John Wells Productions with Andrew Stearn also serving as an executive producer. Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey starred in the original film. (Deadline.com)
THURSDAYS (NBC, New!) - Breckin Meyer ("Men at Work") and Jesse Stern ("NCIS") have booked a script order from the Peacock for a single-camera comedy about "a group of male friends and a weekly Thursday guys dinner that has become a tradition in their busy, chaotic lives." The project, which has a penalty attached, comes from the Sony Pictures Television-based Fanfare with the company's Jamie Tarses executive producing alongside said duo. (Deadline.com)
TYRANT (FX/Fox 21; W: Craig Wright; D: David Yates) - Fares Fares (Zero Dark Thirty) is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about an unassuming American family drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. He'll play Fauzi Nadal, "an old friend of Barry's (Adam Rayner) from the war-torn city known for its righteous opposition to his family's regime." The project's ensemble also includes Ashraf Barhom, Jordana Spiro, Justin Kirk, Mehdi Dehbi, Moran Atias, Salim Daw and Sibylla Deen. (THR.com)
UNTITLED BRIAN GALLIVAN PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Brian Gallivan ("Happy Endings") has set up a potential single-camera comedy at the Alphabet about "an overworked father dreaming of being 'on vacation all year' who decides to uproot his family from the city and move them to New Hampshire where they open a group of tourist cottages. And where they rarely, if ever, feel like they're on vacation." The untitled project, which has a high seven-figure penalty attached, is set up at Sony Pictures Television with Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz of the studio-based Olive Bridge Entertainment also serving as executive producers. UNTITLED RIDDLE & SALAHUDDIN PROJECT (HBO/BVE; W: Bashir Salahuddin & Diallo Riddle; D: Jamie Babbit) - Siena Goines ("Chase") has scored a role on the comedy pilot, which stars Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin as 30-year-old reporters trying to make it big in Atlanta. She'll play Simone, "an accomplished author who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Riddle." Barry Shabaka Henley, Dorian Missick and Tasie Lawrence also star. (THR.com)
UNTITLED SEAN JABLONSKI PROJECT (USA, New!) - Sean Jablonski ("Suits") has snagged a pilot order from the cable channel for a new drama that follows "investment banker Neil Truman and his wife Grace who are sifting through their stagnant relationship when Neil discovers that Grace is seeing a male escort and accidentally gains possession of the escort's phone. He gains a unique perspective on his life and what motivates women, while Grace contemplates whether her needs are being met and whether her marriage is worth saving." Russ Krasnoff ("Community") also serves as an executive producer on the hour, which is set up at Universal Cable Productions. (Deadline.com)
