HISTORY AND H2 COMMEMORATE 9/11

"9/11: RELICS FROM THE WRECKAGE"

New Special Premieres Tuesday, September 10 at 10 pm ET on H2

Highlight in Lineup of Acclaimed 9/11-Themed Programming part of A+E Networks Continued Collaboration with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum

New York, September 6th, 2013 - Doing its part to ensure that this and future generations never forget the tragic events of September 11, 2001, HISTORY and H2 will commemorate the day with a line-up of new and encore programming, airing on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 10 and 11.

Highlighting the lineup is the premiere of 9/11: RELICS FROM THE WRECKAGE, a 30-minute special airing commercial free on H2 at 10PM ET on Tuesday, September 10. HISTORY will encore the Emmy(R) Award-winning 102 MINUTES THAT CHANGED AMERICA at 9PM ET on Wednesday, September 11, also presented commercial free.

9/11: RELICS FROM THE WRECKAGE originated as short-form content created by HISTORY's digital programming team. Re-crafted into a 30-minute television program, the Emmy-nominated short form showcases five objects being placed in the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. How do you honor the memory and legacy of more than 3,000 lives lost to the terror attacks? That was the challenge facing the creators of the museum. They must commemorate the fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and children who never came home that day in 2001, while preparing to educate generations of visitors who weren't yet born when the attacks took place. Museum President Joe Daniels introduces viewers to the museum still under construction and to the artifacts they have chosen to tell the story of 9/11. The special is the latest product from a long-standing relationship between A+E Networks and the museum. In addition, History.com features a full slate of September 11th-related content including dozens of videos, a video interactive of September 11th eyewitness accounts from various locations around Manhattan and an infographic detailing the rebuilding of 1 World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial. Visit History.com/911 to find out more.

102 MINUTES THAT CHANGED AMERICA chronicles the events as they unfolded in New York City on September 11. Some witnesses were frozen with shock, some helped others, many ran as fast as they could from the growing disaster. And then there were those who grabbed their video cameras. 102 MINUTES THAT CHANGED AMERICA uses amateur and professional footage, woven together without narration or commentary, to faithfully record that historic morning and to provide an immersive and unforgettably emotional experience.

While 9/11 is forever seared in the minds of adult viewers, many students have no memory of the attacks and the horrific losses that followed. A+E Networks is sharing educational resources with schools and the public, helping teachers and parents who may be introducing 9/11 to young people for the first time. These outreach materials include: email newsletters to teachers with curriculum guides and resources for 102 MINUTES THAT CHANGED AMERICA and 9/11: RELICS FROM THE WRECKAGE; resource guides for schools and communities about organizing 9/11 commemorative events; and links to FAQ's developed by the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, giving teachers and students resources for understanding 9/11 and its aftermath. HISTORY will also air MAKING THE 9/11 MEMORIAL during its commercial-free Classroom programming time slot on Monday, September 9 at 6am. MAKING THE 9/11 MEMORIAL is a behind-the-scenes exploration of the construction of the Memorial from the worldwide design competition through its installation. .

Other 9/11 television programming includes encores of: 9/11 STATE OF EMERGENCY (8 pm Tuesday on H2); GROUNDED ON 9/11 (10:30 pm Tuesday on H2); THE MAN WHO PREDICTED 9/11 (8 pm Wednesday on HISTORY); and THE MIRACLE OF STAIRWAY B (11 pm Wednesday on HISTORY).
