BEVERLY KILLS (ABC, New!) - Donald Todd ("Samantha Who?") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about "a wife and mom who retires from her job - as a highly skilled hit-woman for the mob - and settles into domesticity. But try as she might to live the life of a normal housewife, she soon spots crime, corruption, and evil-doing beneath the quiet, green surface of Beverly Hills, and decides to clean it up and keep her family safe in the only way she knows how." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the hour - which has a penalty attached - with Small Dog Picture Company's Jason Winer and Renate Radford executive producing alongside Todd. (Deadline.com)
CHASING SKIPS (FOX, New!) - Blake McCormick ("Cougar Town") has scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a new drama about "two down-on-their-luck guys in search of a way to improve their lives who decide to enter the world of bounty hunting, despite having no experience and very few skills." Said hour is set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based Doozer Productions with the company's Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
CLANDESTINE (ABC, New!) - Matthew Sand (Ninja Assassin) has set up a potential CIA drama at the Alphabet about an unlikely asset: "the hard-partying daughter of the American ambassador to the UK. As her work grows more dangerous, she discovers skills and talents no one ever thought she possessed - especially not her father, from whom she is keeping a dark secret." The ABC Studios-based Tall Girl Productions is behind the hour with the company's Melissa Rosenberg and Mandy Safavi executive producing alongside Sand. (Deadline.com)
TORCHED (FOX, New!) - Chris Romano ("Blue Mountain State") has snagged a put pilot commitment from the network for a single-camera family comedy about "a fast-talking, fun-loving dad, who through his very unique - and sometimes law-breaking - job, strives to give his young son the life he never had." Chris Miller and Phil Lord ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine") are also on board to executive produce the 20th Century Fox Television-based half-hour, as are Lord Miller Productions' Seth Cohen and Infinitum Nihil's Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski and Norman Todd. (Deadline.com)
UNREAL (Lifetime; W: Marti Noxon & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro; D: Roger Kumble) - Freddie Stroma (Pitch Perfect) has been cast in the drama pilot - about the experiences of a young staffer (Shiri Appleby) on a dating competition series "whose lone job is to manipulate the relationships with (and among) the contestants in order to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage producers demand" - while Roger Kumble is attached to direct. He'll play the show's bachelor, Adam, an "all-American, smart and a wealthy heir to a hotel empire." (THR.com)
VEGA V. VEGA (NBC, New!) - Newcomer Laurie Silverstein has booked a potential drama at the Peacock about "a brilliant, young, successful lawyer who suddenly finds herself forced to go into a practice with her mother, a pioneering female attorney with whom she has a love/hate relationship." Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour with George W. Perkins, Sunta Izzicupo and UnbeliEVAable Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector executive producing. Silverstein then will serve as a co-executive producer with attorney Elizabeth Bradley receiving a producing credit. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Michael Rapaport, Alicia Witt and Edi Gathegi will all recur on "Justified" as "the sexy and charismatic patriarch of a white-trash Florida crime family," "his smart, sexy sister" and "a Haitian criminal in the employ of the said family," respectively (Deadline.com, TVLine.com); NBC has shuttered its much-ballyhooed four-hour miniseries titled "Hillary," based on the life of former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton (Deadline.com);
Kyle Bornheimer is bound for A&E's "Those Who Kill" as "a married dad whom Chloe Sevigny's Pittsburgh homicide detective first meets at a Chuck E. Cheese-type restaurant" (TVGuide.com); Vanessa Bayer will guest on "The Mindy Project" as "a potential love for Chris Messina's newly single doc Danny" (TVLine.com); Katie Leclerc is set to drop by "Community" as "a pretty, sweet and hearing-impaired woman who's teaching Abed sign language" (TVLine.com); newcomer Brad Schmidt will visit "House of Lies" as "a handsome devout Christian with an arrogant swagger" (THR.com); and John Carroll Lynch will guest on FOX's "Us & Them" as the father of Ashlie Atkinson's Nessa (TVGuide.com).
