TNT Orders Second Season of Hit Real-Life Drama "Cold Justice"

Docu-Drama from Executive Producer Dick Wolf and Magical Elves Ranks as One of Basic Cable's Top 5 New Unscripted Series of the Quarter

TNT has booked a second season of its gripping, real-life crime series Cold Justice. The network has ordered 10 new episodes of the powerful docu-drama, which is produced for the network by Wolf Films and Magical Elves. Emmy(R) winners Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Chicago Fire), Dan Cutforth & Jane Lipsitz (Top Chef, Fashion Star) and Tom Thayer (Hitchcock, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) serve as executive producers. Cold Justice has averaged 2.5 million viewers in Live + 3/Live + 7 blended delivery for its first season. The show ranks as one of basic cable's Top 5 new unscripted series of Q3 2013.

Cold Justice, which airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT, centers on former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and former crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary, two women who have spent their lives putting killers behind bars. This real-life procedural drama follows them as they set out to solve small-town murder cases that have lingered for years without answers or closure.

"We're very proud to be renewing Cold Justice, which has already delivered real-world results for several of the cases featured on the show," said Eilenberg. "Viewers have come to see Kelly and Yolanda as a real-life counterpart to such crime-drama duos as Cagney & Lacey and even our own Rizzoli & Isles."

Among the cases that have seen movement as a result of Kelly and Yolanda's work is a Cuero, Texas, murder case from the show's Sept. 3 series premiere. The case resulted in a guilty plea. The Morehouse Parrish, La., murder case from the Sept. 10 episode has resulted in three indictments for murder. And the Matagorda County district attorney in the Palacios, Texas, case featured on Sept. 17 is preparing to present evidence to a grand jury in hopes of obtaining an indictment.

The first season of Cold Justice is slated to end Tuesday, Oct. 22, with the second season planned for early 2014.
