This week's "On the Record" offers behind-the-scenes interviews with "Nashville's" creator/executive producer Callie Khouri, acclaimed music producer Buddy Miller, showrunner Dee Johnson, songwriters Shannon and Adam Wright, and the song's performer Charles Esten as they discuss this week's featured song, "You're the Kind of Trouble."
"This is the kind of song you might never hear on Country radio, but it's a great song. And it's really fun to be able to have this big fat record player that we can play in people's homes once a week and then hope they like it," said Khouri.
"Deacon has been struggling musically, so there's a little bit of a gap between when we see him noodle around on the piano early on in the season and when he actually performs. When you really look at it, we haven't seen Deacon perform that much. And when he has performed it's all these sort of sad kind of heart break-y songs. We wanted a song that had a lot more fun and sass and not be about heartbreak. This song was the perfect fit," shared Johnson.
"Every song we have on the show, they all serve a function for the story about where we're going next, and this one serves the function of taking Deacon out of that dark place and makes you think he can do this thing," added Esten.
All original music is released by ABC Studios, Lionsgate and ABC Music Lounge in association with Big Machine Records.
