USA Cancels "Necessary Roughness" After Three Seasons

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- USA has pulled the plug on "Necessary Roughness" after three seasons, Deadline.com reports.
"We are proud of this show and its writers, which had a unique ability to address topical subjects before they unfolded in real life on the sports pages," the network said in a statement to the publication. "We want to thank Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, the incredible cast led by Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne and our partners at Sony Television."
The show's third season averaged 2.446 million viewers and 802,000 adults 18-49 (0.6 rating), down a few ticks from its sophomore run - 2.502 million viewers and 846,000 adults 18-49 (0.7 rating).
