12 MONKEYS (Syfy/UCP; W: Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett; D: Jeffrey Reiner) - Noah Bean and Zeljko Ivanek have both been cast in the drama pilot, which follows the journey of a time traveler named Cole (Aaron Stanford) from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race. Bean will play Aaron Marker, "a political strategist whose relationship with Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) is torn apart by Cole's appearance"; while Ivanek will guest as Leland Frost, "a brilliant venture capitalist and philanthropist behind cutting-edge biological research. His charming and debonair exterior hides a ruthless drive that may bring mankind to extinction." (Deadline.com)
CRAZY HOUSE (Comedy Central, New!) - Comedians Nick Turner and Lee Rubenstein have scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new comedy about "two friends who, after accidentally sending their boss into a coma via an office prank, successfully plead insanity and are sentenced to an asylum." Said duo co-wrote the half-hour and will serve as co-executive producers. No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
FARGO (FX/FX Productions/MGM; W: Noah Hawley; D: Adam Bernstein) - Rachel Blanchard ("Flight of the Conchords") has been cast in the limited series, an adaptation of the classic Academy Award winning feature film of the same title by Joel & Ethan Coen. She'll recur as Kitty Nygaard, sister-in-law to Martin Freeman's Lester Nygaard. Also starring are Adam Goldberg, Allison Tolman, Billy Bob Thornton, Bob Odenkirk, Colin Hanks, Glenn Howerton, Joey King, Josh Close, Kate Walsh, Oliver Platt, Peter Breitmayer, Russell Harvard and Tom Musgrave. THE LOTTERY (Lifetime/Warner Horizon; W: Timothy J. Sexton; D: Danny Cannon) - Marley Shelton ("Eleventh Hour") has booked a lead role on the pilot, a drama set in a world destined for extinction and the ensuing national lottery that is held to decide the surrogates for 100 embryos that have been successfully fertilized. She'll play Dr. Alison Scott, "the brilliant fertility specialist whose breakthrough in fertilizing 100 viable eggs may have life-and-death consequences she could not have anticipated." Lesley-Ann Brandt, Louise Lombard and Michael Graziadei also star. (Deadline.com)
POWER (Starz/CTS; W: Courtney Kemp Agboh; D: TBA) - Elizabeth Rohm and J.R. Ramirez are the latest additions to the drama series, about James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), a wealthy New York City nightclub owner who caters to the city's elite who also is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. She'll play Cynthia, "who works for Vogue magazine and is working with Ghost and his club to host a blowout party for her boss"; while he's set as Julio, "second in command to Tommy (Joseph Sikora)." La La Anthony, Andy Bean, Debbi Morgan, Naturi Naughto, Lela Loren, Adam Huss, Kathrine Narducci and Sinqua Walls also star. (Deadline.com)
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (WGN America, New!) - Oscar-winning producer Bruce Cohen (Silver Linings Playbook) is developing a 10-part event series at the network in which a different A-list director focuses on one of The Bible's commandments and its evolving significance. The Weinstein Company is behind the project, which is eyeing a March production start. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
THE WOODS (Syfy, New!) - Liz Phang ("90210") is developing a new drama at the cable channel about "a young woman who returns to the mysterious wooded mansion her sister disappeared from when they were girls, only to learn that the sinister beings that took her sister are still there." "Chuck" co-creator Chris Fedak is supervising the Universal Cable Productions-based project, with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of Amblin Television also among the executive producers. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - MTV has pulled the plug on its late-night series "Nikki & Sara Live" after two seasons (THR.com); Brian McGreevy, Lee Shipman and Michael Connolly's newly formed production banner ShineBox SMC is developing Philipp Meyer's novel "The Son" - "a multi-generational epic telling the story of America's birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas oil empire" - as a limited series (Deadline.com); and Odette Annable has scored an arc on "Two and a Half Men" as "the new boss and possible love interest to Ashton Kutcher's perpetual bachelor" (TVLine.com).
