New York, NY - November 26, 2013 - A&E's long-running, critically acclaimed franchise "The First 48" moves to a new night beginning Friday, November 29. Back-to-back episodes of "The First 48" premiere at 9PM ET/PT and 10PM ET/PT. A special two-hour "After the First 48" episode premieres the following week, Friday, December 6 at 9PM ET/PT. All-new episodes of "The First 48" and "After the First 48" will continue to air Fridays at 9PM ET/PT.
The franchise follows real-life homicide investigations and offers viewers unprecedented access to every step of the judicial process from crime scene to courtroom. "The First 48" follows homicide detectives in the critical first 48 hours of their investigations. "After the First 48" takes viewers beyond the investigation to the trial, the verdict and beyond.
New episodes of "The First 48" feature some of the series' most dramatic cases to date. In the November 29 premiere episode at 9PM, Dallas detectives hunt for a band of carjackers who are terrorizing a local neighborhood. When they arrive on the scene of the murder, they discover that a car has crashed through the side of a house and the driver has been shot to death. At 10PM, a victim burned alive and dumped in a creek bed sends Dallas officers on a mission to bring the killer to justice.
Premiering Friday, December 6 at 9PM, a two-hour "After the First 48" special follows up on a case of sex, drugs and homicide in Louisville. When officers respond to a domestic dispute, they make a horrifying discovery. A body is buried in the basement, and the lovers blame each other for the murder. Later this season, viewers will go behind the scenes of the New Orleans Homicide Department for the first time, when the city makes its "The First 48" debut.
"The First 48" is produced by ITV Studios America for A&E Network. John X. Kim is Senior Executive Producer and Alexis Robie is Executive Producer. Executive producers for A&E are Laura Fleury and Peter Tarshis.
