Steve Borst and Gary "Doodles" Di Raffaele Create Original Buddy-Comedy Series Filled with Humor, Music and Booty-Shakin' Energy
BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 21, 2014 -- Nickelodeon expands its growing roster of original creator-driven animation with Breadwinners, a brand-new series that follows two booty-shaking ducks as they operate a bread delivery service out of their awesome, jet-fueled Rocket Van. The 20-episode series, produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios, premieres Monday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT), and charts the adventures of best friends, SwaySway and Buhdeuce, as they deliver bread to hungry beaks everywhere. These best buds live together, laugh together, and get into all sorts of riduckulous adventures together. Following the premiere, new episodes of Breadwinners will continue Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11:00 a.m. (ET/PT), in its regular timeslot on Nickelodeon. The series will roll out internationally beginning fall 2014.
"This is our first series to come out of our animated shorts program and we are very proud and excited to bring it to our audience," said Russell Hicks, President, Content Development and Production, Nickelodeon. "Steve and Gary have created a fresh, fun cartoon with great characters and an infectious music backdrop that we think will have kids laughing and bouncing with each episode."
Breadwinners is created by Steve Borst (Teen Titans Go!, MAD) and Gary "Doodles" Di Raffaele (MAD, Metalocalypse), who was discovered from Nick's 2012 Animated Shorts Program. This team of emerging and innovative artists delivers a funny and original series for this new generation of kids. With vast inspirations from classic buddy-comedy animation, and various current gaming, internet and music cultures, this innovative new show introduces the next duck duo who always keep their beaks up and their heads boppin'.
Throughout the series, SwaySway, the upbeat leader of the flock, and Buhdeuce, the loyal booty-shakin' co-pilot, go on crazy adventures together. From eating a loaf of Stank Bread and getting lost in the bread mines, to record-breaking attempts for most bread deliveries in one day, nothing will stop this duo from making the delivery while shaking their tail feathers.
During the series premiere, "Thug Loaf," when SwaySway and Buhdeuce have to deliver bread to the bad part of Duck Town, they accidentally lock their keys in the Rocket Van and have to befriend a gang of Biker Ducks for help. Next in "Mine All Mine," SwaySway and Buhdeuce meet the most righteous dude in the planet, the Bread Maker.
Viewers can visit Nick.com to access photos, learn about the characters and catch a sneak peek of "Thug Loaf." On February 10, fans can learn to be a Breadwinner by playing a series of 10 fast, fun and addicting mini-games, in the Big Bread Booty Bash game. Players must complete a work day as SwaySway and Buhdeuce where they mine some bread, ride the minecart, fly the Rocket Van and more without crashing, toasting or roasting. Additionally, in the Emmy Award-winning Nick App, there will be funny mini videos of SwaySway and Buhdeuce.
