FOX Sports Pledges Two-Year Commitment to Both Charities;
Recognizes Other Annual Initiatives
Los Angeles - FOX Sports Supports, FOX Sports' charitable initiative is proud and excited to announce its partnerships with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Stand Up To Cancer through 2015. During this time, FOX Sports focuses its resources toward these two organizations in campaigns that span all FOX Sports assets and premier events beginning with the Daytona 500 this month.
In December, FOX Sports employees voted to select charities in the categories of Health & Wellness and Education, Human Services & Military. Among the lists of several very deserving organizations, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Stand Up To Cancer garnered the most support.
In the Education, Human Services & Military category, Boys & Girls Clubs of America are dedicated to enabling all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens through programs that teach leadership, education, health, sports and much more.
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), representing the Health & Wellness category, is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that gets new therapies to patients quickly in order to save lives now. SU2C brings together the best and brightest researchers and encourages collaboration instead of competition among the entire cancer community.
"For many years, the people of FOX Sports have demonstrated a deep commitment to bettering the lives of children in communities across America," said Jim Clark, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. "This partnership will help generate vital awareness and support for the work of Boys & Girls Clubs in creating great futures for those young people most in need."
"Stand Up To Cancer is truly honored to have been selected to benefit from FOX Sports' charitable efforts," said co-founder Lisa Paulsen. "Each and every one of us can make a difference in the fight to save lives, and we are so grateful to FOX Sports' employees and leadership for helping us get that message out to sports fans everywhere."
FOX Sports Supports will also support several other initiatives throughout the year in 2014, including 21st Century Fox's partnership with the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games which spans across all of its business units and includes airing programming from the 2014 USA Games on FOX Sports 1; AYSO's monumental 50th anniversary; Movember's month-long men's health campaign; and a variety of military initiatives that began at Super Bowl XLVIII with the U.S. Army's Gold Star Pins awareness campaign.
FOX Sports Supports has become the industry leader in raising awareness for worthwhile causes. In the last six years, it has supported 24 charities overall, from helping children with cancer to assisting military personnel and their families. Through public service announcements, verbal and graphic in-game and/or pregame mentions, FOX Sports has successfully raised awareness for worthy charities helping to generate millions of dollars in donations. In addition, the PSAs have received tens of millions of dollars' worth of air time across all 21st Century Fox channels, helping to support causes such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, City of Hope, Malaria No More, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, STOMP Out Bullying, Feeding America and Johns Hopkins Medicine.
