By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

CRIMINAL JUSTICE (HBO; W: Richard Price & Steven Zaillian; D: Steven Zaillian) - John Turturro has joined the cast of the seven-hour project, about Jack Stone, "an ambulance-chasing New York City attorney who gets in over-his-head when he takes on the case of a Pakistani (Riz Ahmed) accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side." He'll succeed Robert De Niro in said role, who had to bow out due to scheduling reasons. De Niro signed on last year to take over for the late James Gandolfini, who starred in the original pilot and executive produced. Attaboy Films, BBC Worldwide Productions and Film Rites are co-producing while Bill Camp, Payman Maadi and Poorna Jagannathan also star. (Deadline.com)

REALLY (Amazon, New!) - Jay Chandrasekhar will write, direct and star in a new single-camera comedy pilot for from Amazon Studios about "a social and opinionated group of thirtysomething friends in Chicago." Sarah Chalke, Selma Blair, Luka Jones, Travis Schuldt, Lindsay Sloane, Hayes Macarthur and Collette Wolfe are also on board to star in the project, with Chandrasekhar as happily, messily married neurologist Jed and Chalke as his lawyer wife Lori. Jones and Blair then are set as Fred and his wife Joanna; with Schuldt and Sloane as Mike and his wife Margaret; and Macarthur and Wolfe as Hayes and his significant other Alison. Craig Chang and Harrison Kordestani of Main Street Films and Jamie Tarses of FanFare Productions are also executive producing. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Hoke" executive producer David Manson has inked a two-year overall deal with FX Productions where he'll develop new series projects via his Sarabande Productions banner (Deadline.com); and Tahmoh Penikett will guest on "Reign" as "a sexy nobleman visiting French Court that any lady would be happy to have" (EOnline.com).
