The National Memorial Day Parade was launched in 2005 by the American Veterans Center in Washington, D.C. In each subsequent year, the Parade has grown in both size and scope. Since 2008, the Parade has been televised and broadcast live to American service men and women stationed around the globe. The National Memorial Day Parade is the largest Memorial Day event in the nation and this year features hosts J.R. Martinez, a veteran and Dancing with the Stars winner, and Rita Cosby of Inside Edition with Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole serving as the Grand Marshal. Cole was co-pilot of James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle during the Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942 and served 28 years in the Air Force. Oscar(R) nominated actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise and Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri are the Celebrity Marshals and Kristian Bush of Sugarland will perform as musical guest.

"It's an incredible distinction to have the National Memorial Day Parade airing live for our viewers," said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of Reelz. "We send a sincere thank you to our service men and women and we're proud to broadcast the event that honors those who serve and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for America."

"The National Memorial Day Parade provides a unique opportunity in the nation's capital to honor all those who have given their lives in the defense of our country, as well as our veterans and active duty personnel," said James C. Roberts, President of the American Veterans Center. "At the American Veterans Center all of us are both proud and humbled to be able to play a role in organizing this tribute."

On Monday, May 26, 2014, the National Memorial Day Parade will commence at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW. It will proceed west down Constitution, past the White House, ending at 17th Street. Participants will pass by the nation's monuments, museums, and hundreds of thousands of spectators waving their flags and cheering for our country's heroes - the men and women who wear the uniform of our armed forces.

From the American Revolution to present day conflicts, the Parade will commemorate the American spirit and the sacrifices of those soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who serve. The Parade will include floats, high school marching bands, veterans, service members, local and national celebrities, service organizations and clubs and much more.

Broadcasting the National Memorial Day Parade continues Reelz's tradition of supporting America's military through programming partnerships. Since 2008 the network has provided its original programming to the American Forces Network which serves nearly one million American service men and women, Department of Defense civilians and their families overseas, stationed at bases in 175 countries as well as 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea.

The beauty of the Parade is best seen in HD and if your cable or satellite provider doesn't carry Reelz in HD, call and ask them to carry it that way. Viewers will have an opportunity to watch an hour-long version of the Parade starting at 1am ET/ 10pm PT.
