BRITANICK (Comedy Central, New!) - Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney are set to topline a potential comedy at the cable channel as "fictional best friends in a farcical series of adventures based on their real lives. In the pilot, Nick fakes his own death to get out of a relationship as Brian tries to buy his way back into one." Said effort is based on the duo's web series of the same name. Troy Miller of Dakota Pictures is set to direct and executive produce the half-hour alongside Kocher and McElhaney, who likewise penned the script. (THR.com)


GROWING UP AND DOWN (Disney Channel, New!) - Raini Rodriguez and Adam Irigoyen are set to star in a new comedy pilot at the network about "adult parents who suddenly and inexplicably are transformed into teenagers again." Cecilia Balagot and Noah Centineo co-star as their teenage kids, "who now must navigate high school with their parents - a couple with the daunting task of re-living their adolescence under the critical eyes of their children." Barry Wernick and Steve Leff co-wrote the half-hour, production of which begins in August. (Deadline.com)


MADDADDAM (HBO, New!) - The pay channel is developing a small screen take on Margaret Atwood's book trilogy "set in the mid-21st century in a world where corporations have taken over for governments and the genetic modification of organisms is perversely ubiquitous." Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) is executive producing the project via his Protozoa Pictures banner and may potentially direct. Brandi-Ann Milbradt and Ari Handel likewise will also executive produce with Atwood as a consulting producer. The search is underway for a writer. (Deadline.com)


MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS (FOX, New!) - Elizabeth Benjamin ("The Blacklist") is spearheading a new drama at the network based on the 2011 film from Aaron Salgado and Jaydee Freixas about "three wealthy, influential families whose patriarchs came to Miami 30 years ago as Cuban refugees, and whose sons are now facing the fallout from the secrets their fathers have harbored in order to obtain the American dream." Gables Media's Elizabeth Guber Stephen will also serve as an executive producer for Fox Television Studios. (Deadline.com)


SON, THE (AMC, New!) - Philipp Meyer's novel - "a multi-generational epic telling the story of America's birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas oil empire" - is being developed as a drama series at the cable channel. Sonar Entertainment is behind the project with Michael Connolly, Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy executive producing alongside Meyer. (Deadline.com)


TIMELINE (USA, New!) - Author Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Raised by Wolves) is developing a new drama at the cable channel about "a female astronaut who, upon returning to Earth from a six-month mission, discovers that someone has altered her past and, in effect, rewritten her entire life." Gables Media's Elizabeth Guber Stephen will also serve as an executive producer for Fox Television Studios. (Deadline.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "How I Met Your Mother" alum Kourtney Kang has inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television where she'll join the studio's new ABC comedy series "Fresh Off the Boat" as a co-executive producer (Deadline.com); Brandon Barash will guest on DirecTV's "Navy St." as Eric, "a condescending Los Angeles charlatan who becomes enraged when Lisa (Kiele Sanchez) rejects his advances" (TVLine.com); Zuzanna Szadkowski is bound for "Girls" in a yet-to-be-revealed role (Vulture.com); and "Once Upon a Time" executive producer David H. Goodman has inked a two-year overall deal with the show's producer ABC Studios (THR.com).
