ASCENSION (Syfy/Lionsgate/UCP; W: Philip Levens; D: TBA) - Andrea Roth and P.J. Boudousque have both joined the cast of the event series, about a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world, assuring the survival of the human race. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship's population to question the true nature of their mission. Roth will play Juliet Bryce, "the head doctor on the Ascension"; with Boudousque as "one of the starship's maintenance workers." Brian Van Holt, Tricia Helfer, Brandon P. Bell, Tiffany Lonsdale and Jacqueline Byers also star. (TVLine.com)
HISTORY OF MUSIC (HBO; W: George Mastras & Terence Winter; D: Martin Scorsese) - Joe Caniano, Andrew "Dice" Clay, Ato Essandoh, Robert Funaro, James Jagger, Birgitte Sorenson, and J.C. Mackenzie have all joined the ever-growing cast of the drama pilot, about Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), a cocaine-fueled record exec in New York City circa 1977, when punk, disco and a new form of music called hip-hop collided. Caniano is set as Leo, "Richie's longtime chauffeur and confidant"; with Clay as Frank "Buck" Rogers, "the obnoxious, cocaine-fueled owner of a chain of radio stations"; Essandoh as Lester Grimes, "a former singer and ex-colleague of Finestra"; Funaro as Tony Del Greco, "chief enforcer for a New York mob boss"; Jagger as Kip Stevens, "lead singer of Nasty Bits, an early punk rock band"; Sorenson as Ingrid, "a Danish actress favored by Andy Warhol and close friend of Finestra's wife, Devon"; and Mackenzie as Skip Fontaine, "head of sales for American Century Records." SAVAGES, THE (Disney XD, New!) - Brandon Salgado, Will Babbitt and Rachel Cannon are set to topline a new comedy pilot at the cable channel about "brothers Lazlo (Salgado) and Russell Banks (Babbitt), who are forced to change their suburban lifestyle and learn the ways of high-tech treasure hunting when their mother, Rita (Cannon), remarries. On top of having to adjust to a new stepfamily, they find themselves living on a five-generations-old boat with "creepy twins" that were found in the jungle and a ruthless rival treasure hunter that is never far away." Joe Hursley also stars as "Rita's new husband and the Banks' stepdad, Desmond," while martial artist Dallas Liu and Kaylee Bryant play his two children, Quinn and Akara.
