COLD BLOOD (ABC, New!) - Janine Sherman Barrois ("Criminal Minds") has sold a new drama to the Alphabet about Dr. Cara West, "an African-American attending who joins the staff of New York Memorial, the world's most prestigious hospital, after the mysterious disappearance of one of their doctors. She soon discovers that this elite team has no problem crossing ethical boundaries in order to make progress and save lives." ABC Studios is behind the hour with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
GREATEST AMERICAN HERO, THE (FOX, New!) - Feature writer Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street) is set to re-team with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a revival of Steven J. Cannell cult classic "The Greatest American Hero." The update take, which has a put pilot commitment, will chronicle "inner-city teacher Isaac's adventures after his discovery of a superhero suit that gives him superhuman abilities. Unfortunately for Isaac, he hates wearing the suit and has to learn how to use its powers by trial and error because he quickly misplaces the suit's instructions. He also has to deal with a government handler who has very different objectives than him and struggles as to whether he should use his newfound gifts to help others or just himself." Cannell's daughter, Tawnia McKiernan, and Lord Miller's Seth Cohen will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
JACK IRISH (FOX, New!) - Seamus Kevin Fahey ("The Following") is developing a domestic take on the 2012 Australian mini-series, based on the detective novels by Peter Temple about Jack Irish, "a part-time lawyer, debt collector, and apprentice cabinet maker, who is getting his life back together after the murder of his wife. Through his cases, he, more often than not, finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, uncovering much larger things at play." 20th Century Fox Television-based Chernin Entertainment is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached, with Anna Fricke, Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope also executive producing.
