FX Networks Orders Comedy Pilot "Pariah"

Pilot Stars Bill Burr and It Was Created by John Chernin and Dave Chernin From Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton's RCG Productions

McElhenney to Direct the Pilot

LOS ANGELES, October 1, 2014 - FX Networks has placed an order for the comedy Pilot, Pariah, starring Bill Burr and co-created by John Chernin and Dave Chernin, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions.

After an on-air meltdown, volatile TV personality "Joe Abbott" (Burr) is exiled from show business and forced to navigate society as a man with no apparent skills. John Chernin and Dave Chernin wrote the Pilot episode and it will be directed by Rob McElhenney. Pariah is produced by FX Productions in association with RCG Productions, the production company of Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, who serve as Executive Producers. Burr and the Chernins, and Dave Becky, Michael Rotenberg and Nick Frenkel of 3 Arts Entertainment are Executive Producers. Burr is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, APA and Cohen Gardner LLP.

"Bill Burr is a great comedic talent," said Grad. "Teaming Bill with Rob, Charlie and Glenn, along with John and Dave is a perfect recipe for a terrific comedy Pilot."

"I am really looking forward to making a show with Rob, Dave, John, Charlie and Glenn," stated Burr. "I've been a big fan of Sunny since the beginning of their amazing run. I feel very lucky to be working with them."

The Chernin brothers' first big break came on the FXX hit comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where they have spent six seasons as writers and serve as Supervising Producers on the show's upcoming 10th season.

John Chernin and Dave Chernin added, "We believe that Bill, Rob, Glenn, and Charlie are four of the funniest people in comedy today. To work alongside them is a dream come true."

Bill Burr is one of the top comedic voices of his generation achieving success in TV and film as well as the live stage. He received raves for his recurring role as "Kuby" on the hit AMC-TV show, Breaking Bad, has appeared in multiple episodes of the hit Comedy Central show, Kroll Show, and he has guest starred on the FOX hit comedy, New Girl. Burr first gained notoriety for his recurring role on the second season of Chappelle's Show. A regular with Letterman, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon,Burr's Monday Morning Podcast, is one of the most downloaded comedy podcasts online. Burr sells out theaters internationally and on September 30 he will release the vinyl recording of his 2011 Carnegie Hall performance, Live At Andrew's House. In December he will release his fourth hour-long special, I'm Sorry You Feel That Way, on Netflix and in July he received the Stand-up Comedian of the Year Award from the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Later this year Bill will be seen in the indie film, Black and White, opposite Kevin Costner, and earlier this year he was seen in Walk of Shame alongside Elizabeth Banks. In 2013 he was seen in the films The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, and in Stand Up Guys with Al Pacino and Christopher Walken. Burr was also seen in the Steve Carell & Tina Fey feature, Date Night.

In April, FX Productions (FXP) signed a new, three-year overall production deal with Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton and their RCG Productions in a significant pact that included an additional two-season order of their hit FXX comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; FXX's series order for the half-hour comedy, The Untitled Tracy Morgan Project; the comedy pilot order (now Pariah); and numerous script deals. RCG and FXP's first overall production deal was signed in 2011. With FXX's pick up of seasons 11 and 12 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, (10 episodes each season), not only will Sunny become the longest-running live-action comedy series in cable history, its 12 seasons will tie My Three Sons for the second longest running live-action comedy in television history.

FX Networks has ordered five comedy series this year boosting its comedy roster to 11 series across FX and FXX. The new series include Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis; The Tracy Morgan Project (FXX); The Comedians (FX) starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad; Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX) starring Denis Leary and John Corbett; and Man Seeking Woman (FXX) starring Jay Baruchel.
