"ATLANTIS" SEASON TWO WILL PREMIERE ON BBC AMERICA THE SAME DAY AS ITS UK BROADCAST
Hit fantasy series returns Saturday, November 15
BBC AMERICA announces that season two of the fantasy co-production, Atlantis, premieres Saturday, November 15, 9:00pm ET as part of the Supernatural Saturday block. The reveal was made with the debut of a teaser trailer during the broadcast of the newest episode of Doctor Who.
From the creators of the global hit Merlin and BAFTA award-winning series Misfits, Atlantis is a fantastical mix of legend and history that brings to life the vast store of Greek myths re-imagined for a new generation. The stellar ensemble cast includes some of the UK's best loved actors, joined by an exciting roster of new talent. Primed to deliver fun escapism television, season two weaves together elements of adventure, romance, drama and comedy - creating an exciting and entertaining ride.
Atlantis follows the adventures of Jason (Jack Donnelly, Dancing on the Edge), Hercules (Mark Addy, Game of Thrones) and Pythagoras (Robert Emms, War Horse), who battle against some of the most famous names of Greek legend, often in unexpected guises. At its premiere, Atlantis delivered the highest rated series debut for BBC AMERICA's Supernatural Saturday block and in the UK it scored the biggest new Saturday night drama series launch across all BBC channels since Robin Hood in 2006.
Also returning to the enchanting adventure series are Sarah Parish (Hatfields & McCoys) as Pasiphaë, Aiysha Hart (Honour) as Ariadne and Juliet Stevenson (The Hour) as The Oracle. New additions to the cast include Vincent Regan (Strike Back) as Dion and Amy Manson (Being Human) as Medea, with guest appearances to be made by Robert Pugh (Game of Thrones) and Peter de Jersey (Broadchurch) in episode one. Executive producers are Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy, and Howard Overman for Urban Myth Films and Bethan Jones for BBC Cymru Wales. Atlantis returns Saturday, November 15, 9:00pm ET as part of BBC AMERICA's Supernatural Saturday.
