48 HOURS UNTIL MONDAY (FOX, New!) - Charlie Grandy ("The Mindy Project") has sold a new single-camera comedy to the network about "one husband's desperate struggle to not let every weekend go to hell." The project, which has a penalty attached, comes from the Universal Television-based TBD Productions with Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
ICE (DirecTV, New!) - Oscar-winner Ron Bass (Rain Man) and Vince Gerardis (Jumper) are set to team with director Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer) for a new drama "set in the treacherous and colorful world of diamond traders in downtown Los Angeles. Within the twisted labyrinth of memorable characters walks Alvy Simon, the diamond whisperer, whose genius for seeing the charisma in a stone will make him both a god and a target in this unique milieu." Alcon Television Group is behind the hour, which is anticipating a 10-episode direct-to-series commitment. Fuqua is attached to helm the debut installment from a script by Bass and Gerardis, who are also executive producing alongside Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson and Sharon Hall as well as and DirecTV executives Chris Long and Bart Peters. Ben Roberts is producing. (Deadline.com)
TAKE IT FROM US (NBC, New!) - Greg Malins ("Ground Floor") has set up a new multi-camera comedy at the Peacock about "a couple in their 50s who tell their son and his new fiancée all the mistakes they made in life in hopes the new couple can avoid making the same mistakes," as told in flashbacks in New York in the 1990s. Sony Pictures Television, home to Malins's overall deal, is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
UNCLE BUCK (ABC, New!) - Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley ("MADtv") are spearheading a new multi-camera comedy based on John Hughes's 1989 film about "a childish man, played by John Candy, who learns how to be an adult by taking care of his brother's kids in a very childish way." Will Packer is also on board to executive produce via his Will Packer Productions banner for Universal Television with Korin Huggins co-executive producing. Kevin Meaney previously toplined a short-lived TV series for CBS based on the film in 1990. (Deadline.com)
WHITE CITY (AMC/AMC Studios; W: John Dempsey & Nick McDonell; D: Stephen Gaghan) - Ellen Woglom ("Outlaw") is the latest to be cast in the drama pilot, about Jon Liston (Tim Peper), a war junkie who has spent the better part of the last decade in Kabul with a front-row seat to the carnage. She's set as Claire Summers, "a U.S. press attache at the embassy who is good friends with Liston." Mercedes Mason and Josh Pence also star. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - 20th Century Fox Television has shelved its proposed TV series for NBC based on the movie "Say Anything" due to the objections of director Cameron Crowe and star John Cusack (Deadline.com); NBC has asked for three extra scripts of its freshman entries "The Mysteries of Laura" and "Constantine" (Deadline.com); Scarlett Johansson is attached to star in a limited series from Sony Pictures Television based on Edith Wharton's 1913 novel "The Custom of the Country" (Deadline.com); Legendary Television and Cyan Worlds are developing a TV series based on the latter's famed video game franchise "Myst" (Deadline.com); Derek Phillips and Rob Belushi have been cast as the siblings of Agent Lisbon (Robin Tunney) on "The Mentalist" (EW.com);
Mike Pniewski will visit "Blue Bloods" as a "U.S. Marshal Vaughn, who works on a case with Danny and Det. Baez" (TVLine.com); Peter Fonda is set to drop by "The Blacklist" as "a CEO and philanthropist who funds millions of dollars for animal rights groups" (TVGuide.com); Sandra Bernhard and Stephen Root have been tapped as the respective parents of Gina and Boyle, respectively, on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (TVLine.com); and Will Rothhaar has booked a three-episode arc on "Grimm" as "a cop with a dark side" while Brian Letscher will likewise recur as "a sinister and mysterious individual with a horrific ability to absorb memories of his victims for sale to enemy powers" (TVLine.com).
