ELECTUS SELLS "THE RAFT" TO NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL
Electus International to Distribute The Raft Globally
Los Angeles, CA (October 15, 2014) -- Multimedia entertainment studio Electus, an operating business of IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) today announces that is has sold The Raft to National Geographic Channel in the U.S. and will be produced in association with Brian Catalina Entertainment. Electus International will act as the international distributor for The Raft and will be available at MIPCOM this October.
"The concept of being stranded at sea is filled with mystery and danger and water is a global landscape that hasn't yet been truly explored," said Corie Henson, EVP Unscripted TV of Electus. "The Raft is a social experiment that looks at what people will do when they are pushed to the limit."
The Raft follows two separate, two man rafts as they fight the harshest of ocean conditions in an attempt to stay alive. All they have is their own ingenuity, miles of endless water, paralyzing fear, loneliness and isolation that comes from facing your own mortality. Can they last at sea until they hit land? Or will extreme conditions cause them to surrender? With this extreme physical and mental challenge, it's not only their own survival they have to endure, but each other. If one wants to quit, the adventure is over for the both of them.
The series is executive produced by Chris Grant and Corie Henson of Electus and Brian Catalina, Kristina Wood and Fred Pichel of Brian Catalina Entertainment. For National Geographic Channel, Eric Lange is executive producer; Lynn Sadofsky is vice president, production and development; Noel Siegel is senior vice president, development and production; and Tim Pastore is president, original programming and production.
National Geographic Channel is currently airing another Electus show Southern Justice which explores the work of law enforcement agencies in Sullivan County, TN and Ashe County, NC, headed up by Sheriff Wayne Anderson and Sheriff James Williams, respectively. These sheriffs share a philosophy best described as "Andy Griffith in the 21st century," and are tasked with protecting these unique, close-knit communities, which often requires a mix of action and compassion. And if a peaceful solution proves impossible, both agencies are ready with SWAT teams to handle the most violent situations.
Brian Catalina Entertainment produces National Geographic Channel's hit series Ultimate Survival Alaska, an epic survival race that challenges some of the nation's toughest outdoorsmen as they race through the wild Alaskan backcountry surviving off the land. Season Three of U.S.A. is set to air in the first quarter of 2015.
