Paris Barclay to Executive Produce and Direct the Pilot for "The Bastard Executioner"

Barclay To Helm The Pilot Created and Written by Kurt Sutter

Production Scheduled To Begin In Wales In Early 2015

LOS ANGELES, November 19, 2014 - Paris Barclay will executive produce and direct the pilot for Kurt Sutter's highly-anticipated new series The Bastard Executioner, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programing for FX Networks and FX Productions.

The Bastard Executioner hails from Sutter, who will serve as an Executive Producer along with award-winning producer Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Sutter, Creator/Executive Producer of Sons of Anarchy, will write the script for the pilot of The Bastard Executioner, with production set to take place in Wales in early 2015. The project is being produced by Fox 21 and FX Productions (FXP).

The Bastard Executioner is a period drama that tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward II's charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

Barclay currently serves as an Executive Producer on, and has directed 15 episodes of, FX's Sons of Anarchy. His final directorial effort on the show will be the penultimate episode, which will air on Tuesday, December 2nd.

He previously worked as executive producer and director on In Treatment and co-executive producer/director on Cold Case. His other TV directing credits include Glee, The Shield, The Good Wife and Lost. Barclay won Emmy(R) Awards in both 1998 and 1999 for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for NYPD Blue and has been nominated six other times. He won a DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Dramatic Series in 1999 for NYPD Blue. Barclay currently serves as President of the Directors Guild of America (DGA).
