FOREVER 31 (ABC, New!) - Iliza Shlesinger is set to topline a potential comedy at the Alphabet in which Shlesinger, "playing a version of herself, as a 31-year-old comedian who, along with her best friends, struggle with the daily absurdities and indignities of becoming an adult." She'll also pen the half-hour under the supervision of Cindy Chupack with ABC Studios-based The Mark Gordon Co's Mark Gordon and Andrea Shay and Avalon Entertainment's David Martin and Kara Baker likewise executive producing. Shlesinger then will serve as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
GLOBAL FREQUENCY (FOX, New!) - Warren Ellis's comic book - about "a privately funded crime-fighting operation that uses worldwide crowd-sourcing to solve crimes the police cannot" - is once again being eyed for the small screen, this time at FOX with a pilot production commitment. Rockne S. O'Bannon ("Cult") will pen the script for the Warner Bros. Television-based Jerry Bruckheimer TV with Ellis, Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman executive producing and KristieAnne Reed as a co-executive producer. Michelle Forbes and Josh Hopkins starred in a 2004 incarnation at The WB from writer John Rogers, producer Mark Burnett and director Nelson McCormick; while Scott Nimerfro spearheaded another attempt in 2009 for The CW. GRANDMA DEAREST (ABC, New!) - Todd Linden ("Jennifer Falls") has sold a new comedy to the Alphabet about "the world's worst grandmother, who loses her considerable wealth and moves in with her daughter." Said effort comes from Sony Pictures Television with Moses Port and FanFare Productions' Jamie Tarses also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
LONG GRAY LINE, THE (HBO, New!) - Rick Atkinson's book, subtitled "The American Journey of West Point's Class of 1966," is being developed as a drama at the pay channel. Art and John Linson ("Sons of Anarchy") have secured the rights to the project, which "documented the cadets' journey into the harsh years of the Vietnam War, when the American military faced real criticism for the first time in U.S. history, and the changed reality that awaited those who were fortunate enough to return to their homeland." Phil Klay is attached to pen the script. (Deadline.com)
OUTCAST (Cinemax/FIC; W: Robert Kirkman; D: Adam Wingard) - Reg E. Cathey, Julia Crockett, Wrenn Schmidt and Kip Pardue have all landed roles on the drama pilot, about Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a young man who, after being plagued by possession since he was a child, sets out to seek answers, only to uncover something that could end all life on Earth as we know it. Cathey will play Giles, "Rome's Chief of Police and a poker buddy of Anderson's (Philip Glenister)"; Crockett as Sarah Barns, "Kyle's mother, who makes young Kyle's life a living hell"; Schmidt as Megan Holter, "Kyle's adopted sister and a child psychologist, who is always on a mission to fix people, especially Kyle"; and Pardue as Mark Holter, "the husband of Kyle's adopted sister, Megan, a small town cop whose temper sometimes gets him in trouble." Gabriel Bateman also stars. (Deadline.com)
