"36 Hours" Co-Hosts Kristen Kish and Kyle Martino

CHEVY CHASE, MD/NEW YORK (April 21, 2015) - Travel Channel and The New York Times are bringing the hit Times travel column 36 Hours to television.

In each one-hour episode of "36 Hours," co-hosts Kristen Kish and Kyle Martino arrive in a new city where they'll have 36 hours to explore the most delicious foods and hot spots, meet fascinating local insiders and experience the best attractions unique to each destination. Their itineraries will be informed by New York Times editors and contributors who bring extensive research and expertise in each locale. Six episodes are green-lit for production.

Episodes will be timed to coincide with new or updated New York Times 36 Hours newspaper columns. There also will be companion editorial and video content across platforms on NYTimes.com and Travel Channel digital properties.

The joint announcement was made today by Shannon O'Neill, president, Travel Channel and Rebecca Howard, general manager, video, The New York Times.

"Reading the 36 Hours column is a weekend ritual for many seasoned travelers," says O'Neill. "We jumped at the chance to work with The New York Times on this series knowing viewers and travelers alike will benefit from these two brands coming together. This show brings the popular column to life, and is designed to get at the soul of each city in a way that will inspire people to travel and experience the world."

Adds Howard, "From the print column to the popular book series to our weekly digital video show, travelers look to The New York Times to guide them to the most interesting spot as seen through our lens. We are looking forward to working with Travel Channel and bringing 36 Hours to their adventurous audience."

"36 Hours" co-host Kristen Kish is the winner of "Top Chef" season 10, and the second woman to earn that title. She served as chef de cuisine at Menton, one of Boston's premiere restaurants; is known for creating daring and innovative dishes; and has recently appeared at culinary events in Spain, London and Portugal. Co-host Kyle Martino was a professional soccer player on the U.S. National Team, and is currently a studio analyst for NBC Sports Premiere League soccer coverage. He has traveled the world from a very young age playing soccer in places like Russia, Argentina, Panama and across Europe. While soccer is his passion, it also has been his passport to explore the food, people and cultures of all the cities he's visited.

"36 Hours" is produced by Bungalow Media & Entertainment. For Travel Channel, the executive producer is Tina Nguyen.
