THE BROTHERS CHAPS, OF ACCLAIMED ANIMATED WEB SERIES
"HOMESTAR RUNNER," HAVE CREATED "TWO MORE EGGS,"
A SERIES OF CARTOON SHORTS FOR DISNEY XD
-- To Debut on Disney XD's YouTube Channel and WATCH Disney XD
Tuesday, June 23 --
Acclaimed web animation pioneers The Brothers Chaps (Mike and Matt Chapman), creators of the hugely popular series "Homestar Runner," will present the eclectic "Two More Eggs," a series of 40 original cartoon shorts, on Disney XD's YouTube Channel and WATCH Disney XD, today, TUESDAY, JUNE 23. The series launches with three animated shorts, followed by a new episode every Tuesday throughout the summer. The project marks Disney XD's foray into original content created specifically for its non-linear platforms. It is scheduled for the Disney XD cable and satellite channel later this year.
The announcement was made today by Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD, and Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Disney Television Animation.
A production of The Brothers Chaps' Citywide Hoop Champs, Inc. in association with Disney Television Animation, each installment of "Two More Eggs" incorporates a variety of animation techniques, indicative of the brothers' signature style, including flash, computer-generated imagery and animation mixed with live-action.
Coleman said, "As we pursue new methods of development and short-form production, we looked to two trailblazers in the field, Matt and Mike, who created a beloved web series years before today's ubiquitous video-sharing platforms even existed. This project epitomizes our development strategy - hire great talent and give them the freedom to create content with their unique point of view."
Buhaj said, "We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Matt and Mike whose proprietary style of comedy, characters and stories embody the Disney XD brand. By launching 'Two More Eggs' on our non-linear platforms, the shorts will be instantly available to viewers worldwide, introducing a line-up of new characters that will undoubtedly capture the hearts and minds of fans everywhere."
The Brothers Chaps said, "Disney's support has allowed us to organically evolve these weird cartoons in exactly the way we imagined. We've worked on these shorts with the same autonomy as with our own 'Homestar Runner' cartoons, and it's been tons of fun."
The premiere episodes are "Dooble - Dooblie Doo," where Dooble explores the world while singing his signature song; "CGI Palz - Theme Song," featuring Rotisserie, Rooty, Arlington, The Lenore Street Bridge and Pekot performing their theme song that explains computer-generated imagery; and "Hot Dip - Not 4 Momz," a commercial parody for Hot Dip, the latest snack food enjoyed by everyone except moms.
The Atlanta-based brothers' two-man, one-stop animation shop has written, produced directed, edited and voiced hundreds of "Homestar Runner" episodes since its inception in 2000, and continue to roll out new episodes. In addition to "Two More Eggs," The Brothers Chaps have worked with Disney TV Animation on several projects. Matt Chapman wrote for the Emmy Award-winning "Mickey Mouse" cartoon shorts and "Gravity Falls," and voiced some characters for the latter and "Star vs. The Forces of Evil." Both Matt and Mike Chapman wrote for the Annie Award-winning "Wander Over Yonder."
