|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
FATAL ATTRACTION (FOX, New!) - Maria and Andre Jacquemetton ("Mad Men") are spearheading a limited series at the network inspired by Adrian Lyne's famed 1987 film, which saw "Michael Douglas' successful and married attorney embark on an ill-advised weekend affair with Glenn Close's publishing exec only for her to begin stalking him and his family." Paramount Television is behind the hour with Stanley R. Jaffe and Anonymous Content's Rosalie Swedlin also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
FOODIES (AMC, New!) - Duncan Birmingham ("Maron") has set up a potential half-hour comedy at the cable channel which "follows a group of obsessive foodies who'll go to any length to indulge their favorite pastime" in Los Angeles's fast-paced culinary world. Groundswell Productions is behind the project with the company's Michael London executive producing. (Deadline.com)
GORGEOUS MORONS (ABC Family/ABCS; W: Danny Chun; D: TBA) - Lilah Richcreek has been tapped as the female lead on the comedy pilot, which focuses on Madison and AJ, two stunningly handsome but ridiculously simple brothers - one is a model, the other a personal trainer - who find their lives rocked by their brainy new roommate, a female literature PhD whose looks are, by their standards, in desperate need of help. She'll play said woman, Jane. (Deadline.com)
MANSON'S LOST GIRLS (Lifetime, New!) - Asylum Entertainment has received the green light for a new original movie at the network about "the circle of teenaged girls who fell under the demonic spell of Charles Manson and helped carry out brutal killings meant to start an apocalyptic race war." Leslie Libman is directing the project from a script by Matthew Tabak and Stephen Kronish. Already cast is Jeff Ward as Manson with MacKenzie Mauzy as Linda Kasabian, Eden Brolin as Susan Atkins, Greer Grammer as Leslie Van Houten and Christian Madsen as Tex Watson. Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch and Nancy Bennett are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNAUTHORIZED MELROSE PLACE STORY, THE (Lifetime, New!) - Writer Dana Schmalenberg ("Single Ladies") and director Mark Griffiths ("A Novel Romance") are set to lead the network's fourth "unauthorized" tell-all movie, this time about famed 1990s soap "Melrose Place." Said effort "will highlight the remarkable behind-the-scenes moments that shaped the series - from early casting drama and Heather Locklear arriving to "save" Melrose Place to the actors begging its writers for even wilder storylines to make them fan favorites." Michael Larkin and Howard Braunstein are the executive producers with Christian Bruyere producing. (THR.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Hannibal" co-stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen have been released from their contracts by Gaumont International Television, despite the company searching for a new home for the series (Deadline.com); Kevin Alejandro has joined the cast of "Lucifer" as Dan, "a gruff LAPD homicide detective who is wary of Lucifer's involvement with his wife and daughter," succeeding Nicholas Gonzalez from the original pilot (Deadline.com); and British actor Liam Garrigan has been cast as King Arthur on the new season of "Once Upon a Time" (EW.com).
