STARZ TO PREMIERE THE EXPLOSIVE THIRD AND FINAL SEASON OF ORIGINAL SERIES "DA VINCI'S DEMONS" ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24TH
Beverly Hills, Calif. - July 23, 2015 - Starz announced today that the third season of the historical fantasy series "Da Vinci's Demons," will premiere on Saturday, October 24th at 8pm ET/PT on STARZ and serve as the epic conclusion to the series which follows the 'untold' quest of the world's greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci during his turbulent early days in Renaissance Florence.
Leonardo da Vinci, genius, artist, a man adept at solving the world's mysteries, faces his toughest challenge yet in the final season of "Da Vinci's Demons" as he witnesses his personal inventions employed by Ottoman invaders during the battle of Otranto. To fight those who seek to destroy everything he loves, Leo must align with old foes, repair broken friendships, discover hidden secrets, and resume a dangerous quest, all while knowing that he is his own worst enemy.
The series from creator David S. Goyer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, "Constantine," The Dark Knight trilogy) and showrunner John Shiban ("Hell on Wheels," "The X-Files") is produced by Adjacent Productions.
"The steadfast fans of Da Vinci's Demons have been asking about the next installment of this story and we're excited to roll it out. David Goyer brought us a plan to portray the unknown early years of a genius and we think the fans will enjoy this final chapter which segues into the da Vinci that history knows. John Shiban has done a tremendous job of building on past seasons and by showing how da Vinci matures as his challenges grow," said Starz Managing Director Carmi Zlotnik.
"While ending Leonardo's journey is bittersweet for me, I'm happy we're ending the story on a high note. Leonardo was famous for his mirror-writing, and there's a symmetry to the entire series - between the first episode and the final one - that I think the maestro would have appreciated," said series creator and executive producer David S. Goyer. "I want to thank our dedicated fans around the world for viewing and engaging with such passion. I want to thank Starz for joining me on this crazy romp. And I want to thank Tom Riley for turning in a consistently brilliant performance. It's no small feat to portray a genius, but Tom did it with grace and humor. I hope everyone enjoys these final episodes as much as we enjoyed making them."
Starring Tom Riley ("Monroe," "Doctor Who," I Want Candy) as the title character, the definitive third chapter of "Da Vinci's Demons" continues where Leonardo da Vinci's world comes to a downward spiral when the city of Otranto is torn apart by an Ottoman invasion. On the battlefield, the Turks will use da Vinci's own weapons against him, the designs for which were stolen by someone he trusted. This betrayal will haunt Leo long after the battle is decided, as will the deaths of loved ones lost in the fighting. When Rome instigates a Crusade against the Turks, he seizes the opportunity to join, but his mission is complicated by a series of grisly murders that terrorize Italy and threaten the Crusade itself.
Riley's co-stars include Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy) who plays Lucrezia Donati; Blake Ritson (Serena, "Upstairs Downstairs") who plays Count Girolamo Riario; and Elliot Cowan ("Luther," "Lost in Austen") who plays the de factor ruler of Florence, Lorenzo Medici.
Outside of the United States and English-speaking Canada, "Da Vinci's Demons" is distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide, in partnership with FOX International Channels (FIC), following Starz's exclusive premiere in the U.S.
