CHEVY CHASE, MD/NEW YORK (July 29, 2015) - Experience a city like a local with the new original series "36 Hours," premiering on Monday, August 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Inspired by the popular New York Times travel column, co-hosts Kristen Kish, an acclaimed chef, and Kyle Martino, former professional U.S. soccer player, arrive in a new city each week where they'll have a weekend to meet insiders who will point them to the best restaurants, hot spots and attractions. The Travel Channel series consists of six hour-long episodes and the presenting sponsor is Land Rover.
"I've always wanted to travel so I could eat the food, meet the makers and allow myself to discover all the culinary brilliance a city has to offer. This is my inspiration, my living cookbook," says Kish.
"I chased a soccer ball around the globe for nearly two decades, now I'm on the road once again," adds Martino. "But this time eating, drinking and laughing my way through some of the world's greatest cities with my good friend and Top Chef Kristen Kish."
In the premiere episode, Kish and Martino explore in 36 hours why Berlin is notorious for being one of the most creative and avant-garde cities in Europe. On their three-day tour, they meet artists part of the graffiti art movement, they discover the city's history and adoration with sex, they get backstage access to Berlin's wildest stage performance and they learn how the now unified Berlin has given rise to innovative dining experiences.
Other cities featured in the series will be Barcelona, Boston, Istanbul, Nashville, Tenn. and Portland, Ore. Kish and Martino's excursions are informed by both Travel Channel and New York Times editors and contributors who bring extensive research and expertise in each locale. There also will be companion editorial and video content across platforms on NYTimes.com and Travel Channel digital properties.
