Los Angeles - Alex Rodriguez, 2009 World Series champion and three-time American League MVP, joins FOX Sports as a guest analyst for the network's presentation of the 2015 American League Championship Series and the 111th World Series. The announcement was made moments ago during today's edition of FOX NFL SUNDAY, as Rodriguez appeared live on-set with the show's stars Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer. Rodriguez debuts tomorrow night, Monday, Oct. 19 at 7:00 PM ET during pregame coverage of ALCS Game 3 on FS1.
As a guest postseason analyst, Rodriguez provides insight and commentary for FOX Sports' pregame and postgame coverage, joining host Kevin Burkhardt and analysts Ral Ibaez, Pete Rose and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas in FOX Sports' Los Angeles studio for the ALCS and on-site at the World Series.
"Alex has always impressed us from afar with his ability to articulate the game extraordinarily well," said John Entz, President of Production, FOX Sports. "In meeting with him, it was obvious he has strong recall when it comes to information, a great familiarity with the remaining teams in the field and we have no doubt that he'll be an excellent fit with our guys."
A 21-year MLB veteran and 14-time All-Star, Rodriguez owns a lifetime .297 batting average and has collected 3,070 hits (1st active; 21st all-time), 687 homeruns (1st active; 4th all-time) and 2,055 RBI (1st active; 4th all-time) in 2,719 career games. He has made 12 different trips to the postseason and appeared in 76 playoff games, highlighted by 2009 when his New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies to claim the franchise's record 27th World Series title. Owner of 13 career postseason homeruns, Rodriguez's most recent playoff appearance came just weeks ago, when the Yankees faced the Houston Astros in the AL Wild Card Game.
"I am honored to be a member of the FOX Sports team and excited to have this opportunity," Rodriguez said. "When I'm not playing baseball, I'm either talking baseball or watching baseball, and I love watching the guys on FOX cover the biggest games in our sport."
