NEW YORK, NY (October 22, 2015) - VH1 will bring its entire 2015 You Oughta Know class of artists together on one stage for an unforgettable night of music with "VH1 Big Music in 2015: You Oughta Know" event live from The Armory Foundation in New York on Thursday, November 12 at 9PM ET. Since its launch in 2005, VH1's Big Music in 2015: You Oughta Know" franchise has introduced talented new artists on the rise and serves as a barometer for what and who's hot on the music scene today. The "VH1 Big Music in 2015: You Oughta Know" artists taking the stage live include: Hozier, Ella Henderson, George Ezra, Tori Kelly, James Bay, Nate Ruess, Rachel Platten, Elle King, Miguel and X Ambassadors.
"VH1 Big Music in 2015: You Oughta Know" will be hosted by Melanie Brown, best known to audiences as the iconic Mel B of the Spice Girls. Mel B is a chart-topping music artist, actress, author, television personality and groundbreaking entrepreneur. Brown has found a home on television across the globe -she is currently a judge in the milestone 10th season of NBC's "America's Got Talent," and just last fall she made television history when she joined "The X Factor" in the U.K. as a judge sitting next to Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh. It's her third number-one show on three different continents, along with a stint as coach on Australian spinoff "The Voice Kids."
Fans can vote for the VH1 ARTIST OF THE YEAR on Twitter and Instagram using hashtag formula #VoteArtistName. On Thursday, November 12 VH1 will announce the top 3 artists via VH1's social accounts and at BigMusic.VH1.com. Fans should continue voting on Twitter and Instagram and tune-in to the live show to see which artist is crowned VH1 Artist Of The Year.
This festival-style concert event will feature performances by each of the You Oughta Know artists, including never-before-seen collaborations and covers. Viewers will also get an inside look at the artists' personal lives and careers through VH1 original short film profiles that will showcase exactly what and why "You Oughta Know" about each of the performers.
The VH1 "You Oughta Know" franchise has helped jumpstart and break the careers of some of music's biggest names including: Adele, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, Sam Smith and Sia and many, many more. In addition to selling millions of records and going platinum many times over, VH1 "You Oughta Know" alums go on to win not just Grammys, but also Golden Globes and even Academy Awards. Sam Smith, a 2014 "You Oughta Know" artist, went on to sweep the music awards season racking up four Grammy Awards (including best new artist), three Billboard Music Awards and one American Music Award.
