FX NETWORKS PROMOTES GINA BALIAN, NICOLE CLEMENS AND JONATHAN FRANK

LOS ANGELES, October 23, 2015 - FX Networks has promoted three veteran entertainment programming executives, Gina Balian, Nicole Clemens and Jonathan Frank, to the title of Executive Vice President, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, to whom they will continue to report.
Balian will serve as Executive Vice President of Limited Series; Clemens is Executive Vice President of Series Development and Frank is Executive Vice President of Current Series.
Grad and Schrier said, "In expanding to a record 20 series, we have managed to field the strongest program line-up in FX Networks' history and a great deal of the credit goes to Gina, Nicole and Jonathan. They are, without question, three of the best executives in the business. As Executive Vice President of Limited Series for FX Networks, Balian will continue to oversee the strategic development and production of original limited series. As Senior Vice President of Limited Series, she developed FX Networks' first limited series, Fargo, which was inspired by the iconic film and won three Emmy(R) awards, including Outstanding Miniseries, and two Golden Globe(R) awards, including Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. She developed the new limited series American Crime Story, whose first installment, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, from Executive Producers Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, and stars John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, Courteny B. Vance and David Schwimmer. Balian is currently overseeing the development of FX's first co-production with the BBC, Taboo, a 19th Century period drama starring Tom Hardy and from award-winning producer Ridley Scott, Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy, as well as Legion from Noah Hawley (Fargo), which marks FX's first co-production with Marvel Television. She also oversaw the limited series Wayward Pines, which was produced by FX Productions for Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX).
As Executive Vice President of Series Development for FX Networks, Clemens will continue to oversee the strategic development of new drama and comedy series. As Senior Vice President of Series Development, Clemens developed the dramas The Strain, Tyrant and the new drama series The Bastard Executioner from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, as well as the comedies You're the Worst, Man Seeking Woman, Married and Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. Clemens oversaw the development of the upcoming comedy series Baskets, starring Zach Galifianakis, Better Things, co-created by and starring Pamela Adlon, and Atlanta, created by and starring Donald Glover. Clemens is also currently overseeing the drama pilot for Snowfall from John Singleton.
As Executive Vice President of Current Series for FX Networks, Frank oversees all facets of day-to-day production for the entire slate of FX Networks' original programming, including the dramas The Bastard Executioner, The Americans, Tyrant and The Strain and the anthology series American Horror Story. In addition, he supervises the production of the FX Networks' comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, Louie, The League, Married, You're the Worst, Man Seeking Woman, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and Baskets, as well as the upcoming Better Things and Atlanta. Frank is also is the day-to-day executive overseeing the untitled Tig Notaro pilot produced by FX Productions for Amazon.
Balian joined FX Networks in 2012 to lead a newly created division devoted to making FX a premiere destination for limited series. Previous to FX Networks, Balian served as Senior Vice President of Drama Series at HBO where she worked on many projects including Game of Thrones, In Treatment and Rome.
Clemens joined FX Networks in 2012. Previously, Clemens was a partner and head of the motion picture literary department of ICM Partners. Before her tenure at ICM Partners, Clemens ran Rod Holcomb Productions at NBC and was a television executive at Spelling Television.
Frank joined FX in 2008 as Vice President of Current Programming and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2011. Prior to joining FX, Frank was with Mark Johnson Productions as head of television development and Caryn Mandabach Productions as Vice President of Television Development. He began his career in 1999 at Pariah, where he rose from an assistant to a creative executive.
