CHICAGO JUSTICE (NBC/Universal; W: Dick Wolf; D: Jean de Segonza) - Newcomer Ryan-James Hatanaka will round out the cast of the latest incarnation of the "Chicago" franchise, which will be set up in Episode 21 of "Chicago PD" this season. He'll play investigator Daren Okada "who is working alongside fellow investigator Lori Nagle (Joelle Carter)." (Deadline.com)

CRUNCH TIME (NBC/Universal; W: Betsy Thomas & Phil Gurin; D: TBA) - Caitlin McGee and Eugene Cordero have both been cast in the hybrid game show/multi-camera comedy pilot, which intercuts between a real game show and the scripted workplace that centers on Emily (Andrea Anders), an up-and-coming producer trying to wrangle the volatile host, Toby (Craig Ferguson). McGee will play Hailey, "Emily's assistant; really ambitious and entitled millennial, Hailey has been in the business for 5 minutes and already believes she could handle Emily's job"; with Cordero as Ming Zevallos, "a game producer who develops the physical games; part mad scientist, part sadist, he likes a little danger in his work and his life." (Deadline.com)

PROTOTYPE (Syfy; W: Tony Basgallop; D: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo) - J.R. Bourne and Toby Hemingway are the latest to be cast in the drama pilot, about three unlikely cohorts who inadvertently stumble upon an invention that challenges the very nature of quantum physics - a discovery which in turn puts their lives in grave danger. Bourne will play Ethan, "Laura's (Cote de Pablo) husband; frustrated by Laura's long hours and split focus, he doesn't believe in Laura's time-consuming, after-hours project"; with Hemingway as Forde, "a model-actor and Donna's (Annabelle Dexter-Jones) abusive live-in boyfriend." (Deadline.com)

SEBASTIAN (NBC/CTS; W: Austen Earl; D: Scott Ellis) - Comedian Owen Smith has signed onto the multi-camera comedy pilot, which chronicles comedian Sebastian Maniscalco's old-school values, instilled by his opinionated Italian father (Tony Danza), which are constantly put to the test by his new wife (Vanessa Lachey), her family, and the absurdities of the modern world. He'll play Kev, "Sebastian's beleaguered friend/security guard, who is still single and a little clueless about everything." (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FOX has temporarily shut down production on its drama pilot "APB" over creative differences with creator David Slack, with Matt Nix tapped to take over as showrunner and rewrite the script (Deadline.com); Neil Cross is spearheading a potential TV series based on Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley novels for Endemol Shine Studios (Variety.com); Nina Arianda has joined the cast of Amazon's "Trial" as Patty Solis-Papagian, "a fast-talking, go-getter attorney" (Deadline.com); Alysia Reiner will recur on FX's "Better Things" as Sunny, one of Sam's (Pamela Adlon) friends (Deadline.com); Zachary Gordon has scored a role on Freeform's "Dead of Summer" as Jason "Blotter" Cohen, "a happy-go-lucky former camper who returns to Camp Clearwater as a counselor and resident stoner" (Deadline.com); and Damon Wayans, Jr.'s Coach will return for two episodes of "New Girl" later this season (TVLine.com).
