SUPERSTARS MILEY CYRUS AND ALICIA KEYS JOIN COACHES ADAM LEVINE AND BLAKE SHELTON FOR SEASON 11 OF "THE VOICE"
For the First Time, a Pair of Female Coaches Will Command the Red Chairs for NBC's Two-Time Emmy Award-Winning Musical Competition Series
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 25, 2016 - International recording superstars Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will be joining Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as coaches for season 11 of NBC's two-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice."
The 11th season will begin in September.
Both Cyrus and Keys are passionate fans of "The Voice": Cyrus is a key adviser on the current season and Keys served as a mentor for season seven.
"The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable," said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. "We're thrilled that they'll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season."
A singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist, Cyrus hosted both the VMAs and "Saturday Night Live" in 2015 alongside being their musical guest. She was named Artist of the Year by MTV in 2013 and has released five #1 albums as well as seven top-10 songs.
Cyrus is a multi-award winner, having won several MTV Video Music Awards as well as an iHeart Music Radio Award, MTV Movie Award and People's Choice Award among others.
As an actress Cyrus recently appeared in the Bill Murray holiday special "A Very Murray Christmas," "The Night Before" and has been cast in the new Woody Allen series for Amazon.
A 15-time Grammy Award winner who has sold 35 million albums and 30 million singles, Keys is a world renowned artist and activist.
Keys has released five studio albums, beginning with 2001's megahit "Songs in a Mirror," which reached #1 on the Billboard R&B charts and went 7x platinum. All four of her other studio albums - "The Diary of Alicia Keys" (2003), "As I Am" (2007), "The Element of Freedom" (2009) and her most recent, "Girl on Fire" (2012) - also hit #1.
Her top singles include "Fallin," "No One" and "Empire State of Mind," with Jay-Z.
As an actress, Keys has appeared in such films as "Smokin' Aces," "The Nanny Diaries" and "The Secret Life of Bees," as well as a role in the second season of the TV series "Empire." In addition, Keys was a director on one of the stories of the acclaimed 2011 Lifetime anthology series "Five" - exploring the impact of breast cancer on people's lives - and received a Directors Guild of America nomination for her work.
As the frontman of Grammy Award-winning recording group Maroon 5, Adam Levine has left an indelible mark on popular music. The primary songwriter for the band and a guitar player, Levine's talents give Maroon 5 its signature sound. His heartfelt ballads and pop anthems have become part of the fabric of today's pop music scene.
Maroon 5's latest album "V," debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 and features the hit singles "Maps," "Animals" and "Sugar," all of which hit #1 on the Top 40. The music video for the chart-topping "Sugar" has logged nearly one billion views to date.
Maroon 5 recently concluded the South American leg of their world tour this month. In addition to his work with Maroon 5, Levine co-starred in the Weinstein Co. film "Begin Again." The track from the movie, "Lost Stars," performed by Levine and released by his label 222, received an Oscar nomination for "Best Original Song."
Shelton has earned the incredible accomplishment of being the coach for four champions over the show's nine completed seasons, with the 10th season currently underway. Season-seven winner Craig Wayne Boyd follows in the footsteps of past victors Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope and Jermaine Paul.
Among his many awards, Shelton is a five-time Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year and an Entertainer of the Year winner. The current cycle of "The Voice" has averaged a 4.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.4 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" results from Nielsen Media Research. In its debut week, the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #1 and #2 among the week's primetime telecasts on the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 ("live plus same day"), in Week 2 they finished #2 and #3 and in Week 3 they ranked #1 and #3. For the 2015-16 season to date, the Monday edition of "The Voice" is television's #1 alternative series in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
