OVATION TO PREMIERE "HANKSY PRESENTS: SURPLUS CANDY" ACROSS LINEAR, DIGITAL & SOCIAL PLATFORMS ON JUNE 26
Half-Hour Linear Documentary and Six-Episode Digital Series to Premiere Simultaneously
SANTA MONICA, CA - May 24, 2016 Launching its first-ever multi-platform series, Ovation is announcing the premiere of Hanksy Presents: Surplus Candy across multiple Ovation channels on June 26. The half-hour documentary special will premiere on Ovation TV, with the six digital episodes premiering simultaneously on Ovation's YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram channels.
The documentary and digital series capture Hanksy, a well-known street artist, as he and over 50 other street artists transform an abandoned mansion in Los Angeles into a magnificent, and temporary, showcase of graffiti art. Painting on the 7,000 square foot "canvas" took place in secret, over a five-day period. Upon completion, a pop-up art show was held for one night only, attracting thousands of curious art fans. The next day, all of the walls were painted over, leaving no trace of the artists' work.
Hanksy Presents: Surplus Candy was created by Nicolas Heller and features Mear One, Annie Preece, Jules Muck, Morley, Jay Shells, Col Walnuts, Steiner, Brandon Sines, and Hanksy, among others.
"Hanksy's Surplus Candy was a concept born of brazen ingenuity and fostered by artists via social media. It's the kind of creativity we love to showcase on Ovation," said Will Marks, VP, Business Development and Digital, Ovation. "By choosing to make this project available via our various channels at the same time, we hope to reach art fans of all ages and usher in a new approach to creating content customized for each platform and audience."

About Hanksy
Hanksy is most noted for his parodies in which he combines pieces from British graffiti artist Banksy with the face of actor Tom Hanks. In 2014, he illegally took over an abandoned brownstone in the East Village, NY and invited 40 artists to create "Surplus Candy." It was a very unique experience that was open to the public for only two hours. Every major New York City publication caught wind of the event and wrote about it the next day. Ovation co-produced the next Hanksy takeover in Los Angeles for this special multi-platform event.
