NEW YORK, June 14, 2016 - Inspired by the gritty, competitive proving grounds of the comedy-club circuit, "Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle" is a bracket-style insult-comedy Thunderdome event featuring the world's most venomous comedians in one-on-one standoffs, with an all-star panel of judges deciding their tournament fate. "Roast Battle" is led by Roastmaster General Jeff Ross and referee/comedian Brian Moses and will be filmed in four nights at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada. The first three episodes of the four-part series air day-after-tape on July 28-30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, and the July 31 finals air live same-day. All shows are filmed at L'Astral in Montreal, and tickets are on sale now at http://on.cc.com/1tu9S8y. Competitors and judges are to be announced at a later date.
"Roast battle" is the most fun I've ever had. Think 'Fight Club' for comedians where anything goes. Two roasters go head to head and rip each other to pieces while a panel of celebrity judges weigh in," said Ross. "It's the Olympics of insults and sometimes feelings get hurt. I got to give Comedy Central props for having the guts to put something so dangerous on the air."
In a nod to "Roast Battle's" comedy-club roots, a four-city lead-up "Road to Roast Battle" tour has been scheduled for Cap City Comedy in Austin, Texas on June 12; Comedy Store Belly Room in Los Angeles on June 14; Lincoln Hall in Chicago on June 16; and the Gramercy Theatre in New York City on June 19.
Each of the ticketed live shows will be filmed for a "Road to Roast Battle" televised companion special to "Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle." "Road to Roast Battle" premieres July 24 at Midnight ET/PT on Comedy Central.
