BLOOD DRIVE (Syfy) - Christina Ochoa ("Animal Kingdom") has booked the female lead on the upcoming original drama. She's on board as Grace, "a dangerous femme fatale who has an agenda of her own. Grace, who volunteered to participate in the deadly Blood Drive, an underground death race in which the cars run on human blood, needs the winnings to help her beloved sister, and she's willing to face death on a daily basis for the mere chance of victory. When she's forced to partner with former police officer Arthur, she's not thrilled, to say the least. Grace may soon learn that this genuinely moral and nice guy is a determined survivor, just like she is and that she may have more in common with him than she had ever imagined." (Deadline.com)
DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (The CW) - Nick Zano ("Minority Report") has joined the cast of the show's second season as Dr. Nate Heywood, "a historian whose grandfather was Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America." (Deadline.com)
GIRLBOSS (Netflix) - Alphonso McAuley ("The Middle") has joined the cast of the Britt Robertson-led comedy. He'll play Dax, "a handsome and upbeat bartender who is dating Sophia's best friend Annie." (Deadline.com)
LA NIÑA/SURVIVING PABLO ESCOBAR (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has licensed a pair of proposed original series from Caracol Television. "La Niña" is "a fact-based story that tells the story of a girl who was forcibly recruited by the guerrillas and lived firsthand the horror of war"; while "Surviving Pablo Escobar," based on the book by John Jairo Velasquez (aka Popeye), "leader of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar's gang of assassins. The story recounts his life from the moment he decides to surrender to authorities to prevent the murder of the woman he was deeply in love." (Deadline.com)
ROYALS, THE (E!) - Max Brown ("Beauty and the Beast") has been cast as Prince Robert, "the oldest son of Queen Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) and the late King Simon (Vincent Regan)." (Deadline.com)
SHADES OF BLUE (NBC) - Emmy-winner Anna Gunn ("Breaking Bad") is set to recur on the show's sophomore run as "a City Councilwoman on the rise and primed for a run at the Mayor's office. She's the former protégée of Wozniak (Ray Liotta), and she used to be part of Harlee's (Jennifer Lopez) dirty crew of cops. Gunn's character is described as being a chameleon who rose up the ranks of the NYPD to Captain and then launched a political career fueled by her charisma and the fact that she is as comfortable at a blue-collar bar as she is at the Governor's mansion. As the season progresses, the details of her meteoric rise and her much darker and Machiavellian side comes to the fore." (Deadline.com)
