(Silver Spring, Md.) - Investigation Discovery's (ID) latest record-breaking series THE VANISHING WOMEN, announced today that it will delay filming the sixth and final episode in an effort to cover real-time breaks in the case and deliver closure to victims' families. The series, which documents an active investigation into the open cases of four deceased and two missing women from Chillicothe, Ohio, has been instrumental in rejuvenating the public's interest and has sparked new leads for law enforcement. The conclusion, now set for the fall, will follow law enforcement's tracking of new tips in the cases and will cover the criminal trial of Jason McCrary this July, who is awaiting his murder trial for the alleged killing of Timberly Claytor. THE VANISHING WOMEN finished 2Q16 as the #1 series on ID, with the first four episodes reaching more than 9.2 million unique P2+ viewers and more than 4 million unique P25-54 viewers in Total Day.*
"As the leading authority in true crime programming, Investigation Discovery has the unique opportunity - and, indeed, even the responsibility - to use our platform for THE VANISHING WOMEN and elevate these cases to a national level," said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America. "With new leads now coming forward and a criminal trial on the horizon, it is incumbent upon ID to cover these developments for our viewers, so we have decided to return in the fall with our finale to hopefully deliver closure to at least one of the victim's families."
THE VANISHING WOMEN documents the past and present work of an active criminal investigation into six open cases of missing women in Chillicothe, Ohio. According to the Chillicothe Police Department, the series has generated dozens of new tips from all across the country since its premiere. With similarities between each of the women and having run in the same circles, some members of the local community fear a serial killer is on the loose. Information on each of the women can be found here, and anyone with information is asked to call the task force hotline at 740-774-FIND (3463) or findme@RossSheriff.com.

The search for Shasta Himelrick comes to a devastating conclusion. When the newly pregnant 20-year-old's body is found, friends and family cry foul play. But the coroner's ruling tells a different story. Meanwhile 38-year-old Wanda Lemons is still missing. At first, a tip that she caught a ride to Texas gives law enforcement hope that she might be alive. But further investigation into her case soon makes investigators think otherwise. Now, nearly two years after the first woman disappeared, Chillicothe still seeks answers. Many hope those answers will come when Jason McCrary goes to trial for the murder of Timberly Claytor in July 2016.
