ALL STARS (NBC, New!) - Jack Burditt and Charlie Grandy ("The Mindy Project") have scored a put pilot commitment from the Peacock for a new comedy about "a collection of very different families who are bound together by their children's 10-and-under all-star baseball team." Universal Television is behind the presumably single-camera half-hour. (THR.com)
AMERICAN GIGOLO (Showtime, New!) - Playwright Neil LaBute is landed the proposed small screen take on Paul Schrader's iconic 1980 film at the pay channel. Set in present day, the drama will follow Julian Kaye (Richard Gere in the feature), a male escort in Los Angeles. Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman of Jerry Bruckheimer Television will also executive produce for Paramount Television with KristieAnne Reed as a co-executive producer and James Oh as producer. Schrader himself will be tapped as an executive consultant. (Deadline.com)
BEING MARY JANE (BET) - Senator Cory Booker, Vanessa Angel and "Love & Hip Hop's" Cardi B will all drop by the new season. Booker will appear as himself while Angel will recur as Olivia Bianchi, "a real estate agent who becomes a mentor figure to Mary Jane's brother Paul." Cardi B then will appear in one episode as a reality star named Mercedes. (TVLine.com)
KEVIN CAN WAIT (CBS) - Bruce Helford has exited as showrunner of the Kevin James-led comedy over creative differences. Rob Long has since signed on to assume said role. (Deadline.com)
MARLOWE (The CW, New!) - Devon Greggory ("CSI: Cyber") has set up a period drama at the netlet about Samuel Marlowe, a "real-life African-American private investigator - a Jamaican immigrant and World War I veteran - who allegedly inspired the famous Raymond Chandler character Philip Marlowe." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour with Louise Ransil, Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor serving as executive producers and Greggory as a co-executive producer. It's understood the project was originally developed last season at The CW under a different writer. (Deadline.com)
NIX, THE (WBT) - John Logan ("Penny Dreadful") has been tapped as showrunner of Warner Bros. Television's proposed Meryl Streep-led limited series based on the novel by Nathan Hill. A network is not yet attached. (Deadline.com)
OUTCAST (Cinemax) - Chris Greene (The Birth of a Nation) will recur on the new season as Oscar, "a member of a cult-like church in Rome." (Deadline.com)
REAL O'NEALS, THE (ABC) - Jordin Sparks will make a cameo as herself in an upcoming episode of as the latest visitor in Kenny's fantasy sequences. (EW.com)
SACKETT SISTERS, THE (NBC, New!) - Luke Del Tredici ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine") has received a put pilot commitment from the Peacock for a new single-camera comedy about "two estranged sisters who perform a Sully Sullenberger-esque act of public heroism, then are forced to navigate their new found notoriety together." Universal Television is behind the half-hour with Little Stranger's Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and 3 Arts Entertainment's David Miner also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
STAR (FOX) - Chad Buchanan has landed a recurring role on the newcomer as Hunter Morgan, a young NFL star, "the godson of Jahil Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) and a total momma's boy." (Deadline.com)
STRAIGHT OUTTA HEAVEN (The CW, New!) - John Singleton and Dallas Jackson have set up a new project at the netlet billed as "Touched by an Angel-meets-Ghost with an urban twist and described as a faith-based, hip-hop-infused guardian angel drama." Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour, full details of which were not given. (Deadline.com)
