BBC AMERICA ANNOUNCES GREENLIGHT OF NEXT ORIGINAL SCRIPTED SERIES: "KILLING EVE"

DARK NEW THRILLER FROM "FLEABAG" CREATOR PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE

New York - November 15, 2016 - BBC AMERICA announced today the greenlight of new original scripted series KILLING EVE. The eight-episode drama comes from Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Amazon's Fleabag, UK Channel 4's Crashing).

Killing Eve is a dramatic thriller revolving around a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down. It is a combination of brutal mischief making and pathos, filled with sharp humor, originality and high stakes action. It will debut in 2018.

Sarah Barnett, BBC AMERICA President, commented, "Killing Eve is a brilliantly fresh take on the cat and mouse thriller from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, a major new talent in television. Underneath the deceptively simple and entertaining surface is a subversive, funny, obsessive relationship between two women, that plays out across some of the most and least glamorous locations imaginable."

Based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve centres on two women; Eve is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle is an elegant, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Killing Eve topples the typical spy-action thriller as these two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will serve as Showrunner and Executive Producer, alongside Executive Producer Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris. The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films.

BBC AMERICA's robust slate of originals continue through the new year with upcoming premieres including Undercover on November 16th, Doctor Who: The Power of the Daleks on November 19th, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, and Planet Earth II on January 28th.

The irrepressible network has garnered one of cable's most curious, educated and affluent audiences, with many properties boasting super-fan levels of engagement.
