BILLIONS (Showtime) - Danny Strong has booked a recurring role as Todd Krakow, "a stylish and smooth hedge fund whale who becomes the latest conflicting head to butt up against billionaire bad boy Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis)." (EW.com)
BUILDING, THE (FOX, New!) - Christopher Leone's 2015 film Parallels - about "a large skyscraper that moves between alternate realities and a group of young urban explorers who are in the building and suddenly find themselves on an Earth wherein Reagan was not elected and Russia dropped the bomb" - is being developing as a TV series by the network. Albert Kim will co-write the script with Leone for 20th Century Fox Television and executive produce alongside Neil Gaiman as well as Angry Films' Don Murphy and Susan Montford. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Charlotte Sullivan ("Rookie Blue") will drop by the veteran drama as "a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant." (TVLine.com)
COLONY (USA) - William Russ, Keiko Agena and Paolo Andino are all bound for the show's sophomore run. Russ will play Hennessey, "a seen-it-all ex-spy who always had more brains than brawn and now serves as a lateral bridge between the many Resistance cells"; with Agena as Betsy, "a co-worker of Will Bowman (Josh Holloway) and Jennifer (Kathleen Rose Perkins) at Homeland Security"; and Andino as Howard, "a Redhat whose loyalties will be tested when he meets Broussard." CUT, THE (FOX, New!) - Joe Sofranko and Lili Fuller ("Complete Works") have booked a potential drama at the network "set in the Manhattan School of Dance, the most renowned dance conservatory in New York City. At the center is Anthony, a subway performer desperate to break free from his crime-ridden roots, who seizes the opportunity to join some of the most elite dance students in the world." 20th Century Fox Television-based Wonderland Sound & Vision is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. The company's McG and Mary Viola then will executive produce alongside Sofranko and Fuller. (Deadline.com)
DR. MIRAGE (The CW, New!) - Gary Dauberman (Annabelle) is developing a small screen take on the Valiant Comics property, about "a female paranormal investigator who can communicate with dead souls except the one she most wants to reach - the love of her life." CBS Television Studios is behind the hour with Valiant Entertainment and DMG Entertainment also co-producing. (Deadline.com)
EMPIRE (FOX) - Rumer Willis is the latest addition to the new season as Tory Ash, "a brilliant but volatile singer/songwriter whose talent becomes invaluable to Jamal (Jussie Smollett) as he creates his most important musical work yet." (Deadline.com)
FREQUENCY/NO TOMORROW (The CW) - The netlet has opted against ordering additional episodes of its two new fall dramas. They'll instead wrap their freshman runs - and remain under consideration for second seasons - at 13 episodes on January 25 and January 17, respectively. (Deadline.com)
GENIUS (NGC) - Shannon Tarbet, Claire Rushbrook and Robert Lindsay are all bound for the anthology series, about the life of famous physicist Albert Einstein (Geoffrey Rush). Tarbet will play Marie Winteler, "a beautiful, bright, warm-hearted schoolteacher from a good Swiss family"; with Rushbrook as Pauline Einstein, "Albert's mother, overly doting and opinionated, Pauline only wants 'what is best' for her son"; and Lindsay as Hermann Einstein, "Albert's father, old-fashioned and stern, Hermann wants his son to succeed in the traditional way; graduate high school, study engineering and join the family electrical business." GREENLEAF (OWN) - Sean Dominic and Roshon Fegan will both recur on the new season while Jason Dirden's Basie Skanks has been promoted to series regular. Dominic will play Martin Jabari Johnson, "a handsome record producer and Charity's (Deborah Joy Winans) preferred choice to produce her new album"; while Fegan will recur as Isaiah Hambrick, "a rising young Christian pop star who shakes up Sophia (Desiree Ross) and Zora's (Lovie Simone) world." HAWK (FOX, New!) - Andy Berman ("Rosewood") has set up a new drama at the network about Johnny "Hawk" Jr., "a con man with special skills, who tries to reconcile his criminal past when he becomes the in-house legal investigator for the glossy LA firm he almost took down." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the hour with Todd Harthan also serving as an executive producer. HENCHMAN, THE (FOX, New!) - Damon Wayans, Jr. and Jake Johnson ("New Girl") have sold a single-camera comedy to the network about Norris (a role eyed for the former), "a man fighting to find the balance between his family and pursuing his dream of being a successful henchman." Said duo will pen the script, which has a penalty attached, with Vali Chandrasekaran serving as showrunner. The Walcott Co.'s Max Winkler and Jason Carden will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (THR.com)
MONSTERS OF GOD (TNT) - Adam Beach, Jim True-Frost, Alicia Sixtos and Efren Ramirez are the latest additions to the drama pilot. Beach will play Sees Two Moons, "an assertive Comanche and powerful son of the Chief who quickly learns that the new Colonel at Fort Thayer, Bill Lancaster (Garret Dillahunt), wants to defy the town's peace treaty with the Comanche tribe." True-Frost then is set as Mayor Walton Green, "forward-thinking and steady all at once, Green butts heads with Colonel Lancaster over the Colonel's new and aggressive tactics regarding the neighboring Comanche tribe"; Sixtos as Juanita, "the charming prostitute who has captured the affections of Colonel Lancaster"; with Ramirez as Jerome, "of Mexican heritage and fluent in Comanche, Jerome works as Colonel Lancaster's translator, exuding a close loyalty for the Colonel." QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (USA) - Incoming showrunner Natalie Chaidez has signed a two-year overall deal with producer Fox 21 Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
