TBS's CONAN will go international for the sixth time in two years as host Conan O'Brien travels to Mexico City for the brand new primetime special CONAN Without Borders: Made in Mexico. The hour-long special is set to premiere Wednesday, March 1, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), exclusively on TBS.
With all of the negative news about the current state of the U.S.-Mexico relationship, O'Brien has decided to strike a positive note by heading to Mexico City, where he'll outsource his show by shooting his latest CONAN Without Borders special with the help of an all-Mexican staff, crew, guests and studio audience.
"Although I'm eager to make a show in Mexico, if the U.S. government meets my demand for $100 million in tax incentives, I will consider relocating production to Akron." said O'Brien.
CONAN Without Borders: Made in Mexico marks O'Brien's sixth international adventure in the past two years. Most recently he traveled to Berlin, where he experienced everything from a dominatrix to the refugee camp at Berlin Tempelhof Airport. He has made headlines as the first American late-night host to shoot in Cuba in more than 50 years. He also became the first American late-night personality ever to host a show from Armenia, as well as South Korea. Early last year, O'Brien joined former First Lady Michelle Obama at the international Air Force Base in Doha, Qatar, to perform for the troops stationed overseas. Last year also included a week of shows from San Diego during Comic-Con(R) International and an additional week of shows from the legendary Apollo Theater in New York. In previous years, O'Brien has also done special shows from New York, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta.
CONAN airs Monday-Thursday at 11 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS. The show is produced by Conaco LLC, with Jeff Ross serving as executive producer.
