GSN's NEW EMOJI-SOLVING GAME SHOW, "EMOGENIUS," DEBUTS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14 AT 9:00PM (ET/PT)
New Half-Hour Series Hosted By Hunter March (AwesomenessTV)
Taps Into the Massive Popularity Of Emojis And Text Messaging
SANTA MONICA - (May 16, 2017) - GSN, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today the premiere of its newest game show, EMOGENIUS, hosted by Hunter March (AwesomenessTV). The show debuts Wednesday, June 14 at 9:00pm ET/PT (8pm CT) with back-to-back episodes.
EMOGENIUS is a new half-hour comedic game show based on communication that uniquely taps into the massive popularity of emojis and text messaging. The show features two pairs of contestants who face off to put their emoji-solving skills to the test for a chance to win $10,000.
Contestants will first have to decode a series of pop culture inspired emoji messages, followed by a round of sending each other strings of emojis in the hope that their partner can guess the message. Finally, only one team will advance to the bonus round, where they'll trade off sending and guessing rapid fire emoji messages for a chance to win $10,000. Viewers at home will also have a chance to further test their emoji-solving skills with the online EMOGENIUS game at GSNTV.com, launching in tandem with the show's premiere.
The show is hosted by 26 year-old Hunter March, who becomes the youngest (non-kids') game show host in TV history. He follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, Hal March, who hosted the TV classic "The $64,000 Question" from 1955-1958 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "My goal is to have my own star right by my grandfather's so he can look down and say, 'What the heck is an emoji?'" says Hunter. As one of the leading producer/creators in online media, Hunter produces and hosts up to 10 videos each week for AwesomenessTV, attracting millions of views every month from a subscriber base of nearly 5 million.
The show is produced by Game Show Enterprises, LLC for GSN. Executive producers are Craig Brooks and Larry Barron ("Idiotest").
