AMERICAN DISASTER (NBC, New!) - Writer Michael McGrale and director Deran Sarafian have set up a potential "anthology series tackling different natural disasters" at the Peacock, with the inaugural season revolving around "a Midwestern community that holds itself together in the wake of a catastrophic tornado." Sarafian, Michael Prupas and Joel Rice are the executive producers for Muse Entertainment and Universal Television with McGrale as a co-executive producer and Lydia Storie and Meghan Mathes as co-producers. (Deadline.com)
BAD DECISIONS PLAYLIST, THE (FOX, New!) - Writer Adam Milch and director Craig Brewer have set up a small screen take on the Michael Rubens book, which "series focuses on 16-year-old Austin, who's always messing up and then joking his way out of tough spots. The sudden appearance of his allegedly dead father, who happens to be the very-much-alive rock star Shane Tyler, spins his entire world out of orbit. Austin, a talented musician himself, is sucked into his newfound father's alluring world while he discovers more about himself, his friendships and what it means to have this new modern version of a family." 20th Century Fox Television-based Temple Hill Entertainment is behind the hour with Wyck Godrey and Marty Bowen also executive producing and Albert Page co-executive producing. (Deadline.com)
HANDMAID'S TALE, THE (Hulu) - Sydney Sweeney has been cast in the new season to play Eden, "described as pious and obedient, someone who represents the next wave of true believers in Gilead. While she has dreams of one day becoming a Commander's wife, her blind faith in this new world order makes her both naïve and dangerous to those around her." (Variety.com)
LEGION (FX) - Saïd Taghmaoui has exited the show's second season as producers reportedly plan to recast his role of Amahl Farouk, a.k.a. the Shadow King. (Variety.com)
MACGYVER (CBS) - Garrett Morris will drop by the current season as "the proprietor of Willy's House of Voodoo, a small, chintzy tourist-trap shop in New Orleans." (TVLine.com)
MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD (ABC) - Dove Cameron has scored a top secret role on the upcoming season, premiering this Friday. (TVLine.com)
RE-TRAINING DAY (FOX, New!) - Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley ("Uncle Buck") have sold a single-camera comedy to the network about Kim, "a progressive graduate from the Berkeley School of Public Policy who, after her husband moves them back to his Missouri hometown, takes a job as the director of a local career center. But when her well-meaning, liberal ideas slam up against her employees' and clients' conservative attitudes, she enlists the help of Dan, an out-of-work factory worker, to act as her cultural translator. Together they form an unlikely friendship and begin building a rickety bridge across the cultural divide." Pacific Electric Picture Co.'s Ed Helms and Mike Falbo as well as Storied Media Group's Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim will also executive produce for Universal Television. A penalty is attached to the project, which was inspired by a piece on NPR's "Planet Money." (Deadline.com)
SUITS (USA) - Co-star Meghan Markle has confirmed her exit from the series, "one day after the actress and Prince Harry announced their engagement." (Deadline.com)
