BIG LITTLE LIES (HBO) - Andrea Arnold (American Honey) is set to helm the just-ordered second season of the series. She'll work from scripts by David E. Kelley based on a story by author Liane Moriarty. (Deadline.com)
BLUE BOOK (History) - Michael Malarkey has been cast in the upcoming drama as Captain Michael Quinn: "A decorated WWII hero, Captain Michael Quinn is selected to run Project Blue Book, a new Air Force division investigating UFO phenomena. A charming Air Force pilot, he clashes with his Blue Book partner, Dr. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen), challenging Hynek's scientific mind with his raw emotional gut instincts." (Deadline.com)
KILROY COUNTY (Showtime, New!) - Writers Jim Taylor and Roberto Benabib are set to team with director Miguel Arteta and producers Alexander Payne and Jim Burke for a domestic take on Franky Ribbens and Dana Nechushtan's Dutch series "Holland's Hoop" about Simon, "a forensic psychiatrist struggling to treat the criminally insane at a high security facility near Chicago. When his estranged father dies, Simon hopes the ensuing visit to the family farm will allow him to confront issues in his marriage and with his own children. But the more pressing problem is that one of his former patients, Dennis, a dangerous but extremely charming psychopath, has followed them there." Scripted World's Rob Golenberg and Alon Aranya, Endemol Shine North America's Sharon Hall and IM Global's Mark Stern will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)

VIDA (Starz) - Elena Campbell-Martínez, Ramses Jimenez, Luis Bordonada, Elizabeth De Razzo, Renee Victor, Adelina Anthony and Erika Soto will round out the cast of the upcoming half-hour drama series. They'll play Doña Lupe, Tlaloc, Nelson, Yoli, Doña Tita, Rocky and Karla, respectively. No other specifics however were given. (Deadline.com)
WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE (FX, New!) - Gennifer Hutchison ("Better Call Saul") is looking to bring the podcast-turned-book series to the small screen which gives fictional "community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff's Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events." Co-creators Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor will also serve as executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
WITCHER, THE (Netflix) - Lauren Schmidt Hissrich ("Marvel's The Defenders") has been tapped to adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy saga, about hunters who develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly monsters. (Variety.com)
